I do not actually own one of these outright, but I have the use of one on a regular basis. I feel I am well qualified to review, and recommend this brilliant product. Still over the moon with it, and it really is a doddle to dust.
The size of the screen is an amazing FIFTY INCHES!!!
Picture quality is fantastic, to be honest, when I heard what size it was, I did expect a poor picture, but this is brilliant. You can fine tune the picture to your eyes, and the list of options in the menu goes on and on. The screen resolution is a massive 1366 x 768. Aspect Ratio is 16:9. It has Auto setup, and a 1500 Page Teletext Memory.

Size matters - 50 inches remember, the screen is measured diagonally. It is of course HD ready. The average sized remote control is a doddle to use. (I was half expecting it to be as big as a keyboard)

Viera link - never heard of it? Neither had I, it is simply a piece of software, which will enable you to use just one single remote control, to operate anything connected to your TV, all equipment has of course to be made by Panasonic!
Connectivity is everything, This includes Scart, Component, PC and HDMI terminals to allow connection to all technology we have now, as well as for the foreseeable future. The list of things I have not even started to understand, includes advanced 3D colour management, digital optimiser, motion pattern noise reduction and sub-pixel controller, everything but a teasmade then!
Sound. OK the sound is very very much up to you, there are so many different settings you would need to read up before even attempting to alter the sound. The actual sound & power output is Nicam Digital Stereo, 2 x 10 W (RMS) Output Power.
Mounting, you have a couple of options here, you can put it on the stand, (actually they call it a pedestal) or you can mount it on the wall, either flat or using the optional angled bracket. This type of TV looks at it's best flat to a wall I think, but if you need it across a corner, then you will be looking for a suitable piece of furniture to stand it on.
The size of the screen only is: 1210 x 793 x 97 mm and the pedestal or bracket, whichever you use, are both very compact.
Warranty is three years as standard, but can be extended by up to five years.
Cleaning is an absolute doddle, it attracts dust like any other piece of electrical equipment, but there is not much surface area apart from the screen.
Heat. Yes this set does give off a lot of heat, more than a "normal" TV set, not a problem, just something to be aware of.
Instructions, included is a very well written manual, giving all the information you need to set up and operate this piece of kit. The quick start guide is very good.
Colour, I will ignore the temptation to say "Well of course it's in colour, not Black & White" - I am of course talking about the case, as far as I know you can only get these in black, but to be honest there is very little to see but the screen.
Price - Amazon offer this model at a massive £1500, you will of course find these at a lot lower price. At this time of year, when money is tight, you can find bargains, and if you do not have the cash, shops are bending over backwards to give you finance, just make sure of the figures before you sign.
Apparently this set received five stars from What Hi-Fi magazine last month, and What Plasma & LCD TV gave it a Highly Commended (2007-2008)
I intended to write a paragraph explaining how Plasma TVs work, but after reading up on the subject I have decided it is just too boring. If you are interested, try going on http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/plasma-display1.htm you will see some smashing pictures, and the description is very good. All I know is, it is a brilliant TV to watch, has more technical features than NASA, takes up no room when wall mounted, and it is like going to the Cinema, but with better sound and picture.
...the 50" all new Viera Panasonic Plasma - TH-50PZ70. I was a bit dubious - its huge -will it look out of place in our lounge? Well yes, and yes but who cares!!
We purchased the TV from Cramptons in Sheffield - it was the cheapest by far and we got a 5 year free warranty and a free surround sound system also. (We gave that to my parents as we already have a Sony surround sound and we are happy with it).
After getting it home, we put it on our TV ... ...like some of the other Panasonic TVs, this model is adaptable). You have to fix the pedestal onto the TV as it is separate in the box - but it is easy to fix.
SET UP: The TV has an auto set up and searches and stores the channels automatically. You can even put in your own user ID should you wish to. PICTURE: WOW - what can I say, its crisp, its clear - the blacks on the picture are unbelievable. We could tell the difference immediately to our old ...

This TV is in a completely different class to any LCD. I was wary of buying a plasma at first but was amazed at the picture quality, sound quality and connectivity. Has some great features (viera link, easy to wall-mount etc), upscales everything, looks amazing! ...

i do own one of these and they are brilliant! they are wall mountable (for space) but they dont have an intergrated dvd player so you'll have wires hanging but they are brilliant!!! A*** ...
