Panasonic Toughbook 52
It is tough time for Panasonic Toughbook, because in highly competitive laptop market, demand is for good configuration with reasonable price. Toughbook has a middle range configuration but the price of this is high, but here I will discuss it with its advantages and disadvantages as well.
***
The main thing that should be consider as main priority is its processing unit, and Panasonic here deals better with having good processor Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 with clock speed of 1.8 GHz, front size bus speed is 800 MHz and L2 cache size is 2MB. This processor is god enough in terms of middle range product but if we consider it as higher level configuration than it has some lack of features like L2 cache size and clock speed. 1.8 GHz speed is not so bad it can provide better speed in general purpose of using this laptop but in complex 3D applications and gaming field it is not enough.

Next important feature for having close look that is system memory and here also Panasonic provided very disappointing only 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM , but the good point is that we can upgrade it up to maximum 4GB. We can aspect at least 2 GB of system memory in this type of laptop but 1GB is very less. Many of other rivals are providing 2 GB minimum in their brands and Panasonic shoal consider it as main priority. In Windows vista the minimum Ram should be 1GB but it will not provide good speed at all, I have 2 GB of RAM with VISTA ultimate but use of RAM only for VISTA remain above 800 MB, if we think about only 1 GB than what will remain back for applications? 2GB RAM is essential in VISTA and if we are thinking for 3D application and modeling than it will be better having 4GB of system memory.
And the second storage media is its hard disk drive, here also it has only 80 GB capacity of har disk drive, it is not in use now a days due to higher capacity of latest version applications and more space required for windows Vista, I have installed VISTA Ultimate and it covered about 13GB of hard disk space. But here Panasonic provided Microsoft Windows XP Professional, as operating system and more or less it is ok for XP.

Another feature is its graphics memory and it has Intel GMA X3100, graphics card. This card is common in many laptops but it is a cheap solution, having 128Mb of graphics memory. I always consider graphics memory as main priority because in latest games and applications they require better graphics memory and this card is not enough for that. In my opinion at least 256MB dedicated memory card will be good choice for laptop, or if you are planning to buy this laptop for 3Dm modeling than you have to think more better from this. In general purpose or use this graphics card is good enough, in VISTA also it provide good graphics memory.

The next excellent feature in notebook is its battery and I think it is the overall best feature having this laptop with 7650 mAh, capacity battery and Panasonic claiming that its back-up time is about 7.5 hours. The standards and real situation always remain different but with this battery we can get up to five hours of back-up and this is excellent back-up time in laptops.
***
Many other features are more or less common with compare to other laptops like optical DVD RW, network card, high definition audio etc etc.
***
Over all conclusion
I think this laptop can be consider as in middle range but it has lack of many latest features, price is also very high we can get highly configured laptop in this price. This can be better choice after upgrading it in terms of memory, operating system, and graphics card.
