The series includes the VDR-D160 as well, which is a compact model that attaches importance to the reduction of weight, thus completing a full line-up of DVD video cameras satisfying a variety of needs. Furthermore, in addition to conventional DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, and DVD-R recording media, the new digital video cameras support dual layer (DL) DVD-R discs with a storage capacity of 2.6GB, thus overwhelmingly excelling conventional single layer DVD-R discs with a storage capacity of 1.4GB and making the new models much more user-friendly than conventional models.
...This isn’t the first video camera we have had; it is a replacement for a 15 year old Panasonic (which still works by the way) which weighs 10 times as much and is probably 10 times as big and uses the record onto videocassette method of storage!
We waited quite a while before buying a new one mainly so the prices would come down so allowing us to buy a decently outfitted video cam. We have had this a few months now and are very pleased with it. We have just returned from a few days away (yes... we really did manage to pick a very weathery few days too) and took this away with us.

...Panasonic has dissappointed us with this product of theirs. It Simply doesnt look to be Panasonic. I have used many 8 mega pixel cameras and this seems to be the worst one. But if you go for the looks and easy handling camera than you could have this as your choice. It has a stylish slim compact body and a wide angle Leica DC lens that can fit a wide image, but you can get this better with a Sony cybershot photography camera, but the cybershot wont be this stylish. Panasonic have got a great feel to the body i must say. It attracts you the moment you see it. A big Lcd adds to the looks. But if Panasonic works on the function aswell as the form, then i suppose there is going to be nothing like this. To people who wana buy this, i would recommend a Cybershot...
