We waited quite a while before buying a new one mainly so the prices would come down so allowing us to buy a decently outfitted video cam. We have had this a few months now and are very pleased with it. We have just returned from a few days away (yes... we really did manage to pick a very weathery few days too) and took this away with us.

...Recently I was searching for a cheap digital camera to take with me on a short trip to New York City, beginning my quest by looking into regular point-and-shoot cameras, more specifically superzoom cameras like the Panasonic FZ18. On my trawls through the web though, I found this superb DSLR. I can find very little to fault this camera, the picture quality puts cameras in the same price bracket to shame (at least if you aren't buying second hand), it is very easy to use (almost as easy as a point-and-shoot), it is light (compared to my friend's D200, this is considerably easier to handle) but still feels well built and everything it very well layed out, the only minus factor I can think of now is that the camera can only focus automatically with lenses that have a built in motor, however most other Nikon lenses are still useable....
