Panasonic have been able to cut the costs down due to the fact that it uses DV cassettes. Which are more reliable in terms of not getting damaged that easyly.

It has plenty of functions to fiddle around with, but the end all is that the video quality is fantastic and i reccomend anyone starting off from making their own home videos, to videoing as a hobby (Youtube), this is the best camera you can use. Its the best value for money as its not expensive at all compared to other 3CCD cameras which range to £1000 and more easyly! Panasonic have been able to cut the costs down due to the fact that it uses DV cassettes. Which are more reliable in terms of not getting damaged that easyly.
The software (pinnacle studio) that comes with the camera, i must say, is not that great. It was incompatable with the new computer i bought, which had windows vista. Therefore i was not able to use the software at all. But luckyly, this works great with windows own movie maker software perfectly (which is free in all microsoft windows editions).
You have an option to use the DV cable to upload videos or the USB. Both are reliable with this camera which is good. But i reccomend using a DV cable as it is faster. Remember to buy a DV Card tho, it does not come with the camera. You will need t o install it on your computer before you can use it. Tho you can might as well stick to USB. I used USB for a while, until i got my DV card connected.
I also reccomend you buy a SD card with your camera. This can be used to store pictures in the camera function. Also to make full use of this amazing piece of technology!
The battery was the part i was worried about when buying a camcorder as i always saw my sisters camcorder out of battery on the most needed moments! Well, luckyly, the battery on this camera is very powerful and long lasting. Tho i still reccomend getting an extra battery so you never miss out on any event! The spare battery can be bought in any online website that supplies battries for electronis.
Dont be fooled by this camcorders looks, comparing it with high tech looking cameras. This camcorder may not look as high tech compared to other camcorders, but very few have the 3CCD technology at this price!
Advantages: Excellent video Disadvantages: No stabilisation in widescreen
The Panasonic 180 is the "entry level" 3CCD camcorder from Panasonic. I bought mine from Currys at just under £300.
For me, picture quality is the one essential that a camcorder must deliver, and the Panasonic 3CCD cameras deliver tjhis in spades. The pictures you can get from the cheapest in the range are every bit as satisfying as those from all but the very top, "pro-am", camera at several hundred pounds more.
Having set up a cinema system at ... ...wife bought me the Panasonic 180 as a birthday gift, and I have to say it is a revelation. The "3CCD" imaging system is a true leap forward in home video photography. With one capture device for each of the three primary colours, the definition is greatly improved. Perhaps It is not quite up to DVD or broadcast standard, but it does not fall far short. But the really amazing thing is the totally life-like colour rendition. Overall, the imaging is ...

Advantages: Good Value Product Disadvantages: None
This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great little device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. However, always think carefully as ... ...it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.
