Fellowes makes light-work of shredding.
Advantages: Looks nice and works well Disadvantages: Not really up to 5 sheets
Just bought this from Argos at £25 so seems to be about a mid-price shredder.
I wanted something that seemed more solidly built than my last two machines as they have not lasted long, I only shread household paper but the others just don't seem to have lasted more than about a year.
This is supposed to take 5 sheets of paper but since most things I want to shred seem to be on "thick" paper I have only put three sheets through at a time. It seems ... ...Normally the shredding speed is quite quick. I find if I do overload it then it slows down and struggles but it does seem to keep cutting. It is not large enough to take A4 sheets sidewards so they always have to go in lengthways.
The most disappointing feature is that it does cut out fairly quickly , after 4 minutes or so it will stop (a safety overheating cut-off) so you need to keep on top of your shredding, no leaving in a pile to do in one ...

As Easy As Shredding Money?
Advantages: Does the job Disadvantages: Doesn't shred 6 pages as stated, very noisey, can't cope with credit cards
...how we came across the Fellowes P-45 Cross Cut Shredder. At the time of purchase around 12 months ago it cost us £49.99 but it is now purchasable from Amazon for £58.86, this may seem a little steep but it all comes down to how much you’re willing to pay to keep yourself safe from identity theft. *** Why this shredder? ***
When we saw this shredder in Staples we were taken with it straight away, it claims to be capable of taking 6 pieces of paper ... ...went beyond our needs in terms of paper capability and at only £10 over our budget we thought it was too good to miss. Another thing on our list was a cross cut shredder which is what most shredders are these days. Our previous shredder was a strip cut just cutting the paper diagonally down the page, leaving us more vulnerable because an experienced fraudster could easily put a piece of paper back together. The shredder is pretty simple looking, ...

Not a Shred Of Evidence For Buying Anything Dearer
Advantages: Cheap and fast. Cross-cut shreddings much more secure Disadvantages: Flimsy open-wired basket
...offerings from the likes of Tesco et al, in favour of a make of ‘proper office equipment’. After all, given domestic work volumes it’d last for ever, eh*? Wrong – two years down the line, it’s kaput and if you stop to work it out, having cost me about 50p a week to own. (*I definitely am turning Canadian, eh – that’s the second opinion in which I’ve ended a sentence with ‘eh’ isn’t it, eh? Too many episodes of Ice Road Truckers, eh.) Fired up with ... ...my prejudices a bought a Tesco Cross-Cut Shredder after all. FIRST IMPRESSIONS None too favourable, I have to say. The mechanism sits atop a wire basket, which I thought was neater than the previous black plastic bin. Having first unpacked it, I tried to press the cutting head into place, at which the wire basket crumpled with a large dent in it. I’d been trying to fit the head assembly on the wrong way (there being no ‘Go 50-50’ or ‘Phone a ...

Dare you try five sheets ?!?
Advantages: A huge basket for the results of the shredding Disadvantages: The machine gets very hot!
...a satisfying job with the TESCO shredder. It makes minimal noice too... We were still able to watch the TV whilst doing it! Although this shredder says it can take five sheets at a time, we would recommend caution here...three or four is the maximum and five just makes it get hot and slow. All in all though, We are really happy with it and feel we have got a good value for money bargain. Summary: Well worth the money :) ...

YOu get what you pay for - cheap and it's for a reason!
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Bad quality, only cuts max. 2 sheets of paper at the time, slow, and breaks quickly.
...after about 3-4 weeks, when Tesco kindly replaced it with a new one. The second one broke after about 10 months, and it's fit only for the bin now. It was unable to cope with 3 sheets of paper, the paper used to get stuck in it and not go through the shredder, the machine would struggle etc. Buying this shredder is false economy, it might be cheap but it won't last, so you are better off buying a decent cross-shredder. ...
