I have found parcelforce to be competitive pricewise on sending parcels if using their service to the uk if above 1kg.
However I was disturbed to be RELIABLY informed of their current delivery practices i.e.that they collect and then store the parcels at their depots until they feel they have a large enough amount to make a delivery.
I have had personal experience of this with books that I sent,Icontacted them online and complained,to give them there due, although they couldn't find them in their depot that day they happened to turn up the day following the complaint.
They have also been prompt with compensation claims for lost packages as long as you have the appropriate receipt.
As I have said before about postal deliviries until you receive confirmation from the receiver KEEP HOLD OF YOUR RECEIPTS.
As for lesser weights they unfortunately fall short as to price/speed of delivery for example,1kg package by p/force is £4 and can take over a week on standard delivery and often does whereas royal mail is £3,32 1st class and generally arrives much quicker.
As for overseas parcels i would have to say that parcelforce is not competetive at all unfortunately with the royalmail service. But if anyone can advise on a cheaper service i would be happy to hear, many thanks paul Comparitive Uk prices(all parcelforce quotes are for standard delivery as of july 2001. 500g royal mail :£1,58 1st class or £1,30 2nd 600g royal mail :£1,90 1st class or £1,52 2nd 700g royal mail :£2,39 1st class or £1,74 2nd 800g royal mail :£2,77 1st class 2nd class not available above this weight. 900g royal mail :£3,05 1st class 1kg royal mail £3,32 1st class Plus 81p per 250g or part thereafter. 500g parcelforce:£3,10 1kg parcelforce:£3,10 1.5kg parcelforce:£4.00 2.0kg parcelforce:£4.30 then from 2.5 kg to 4.0 kg £6,50, from 4.5kg to 6.0 kg £7,05 from 6.5kg to 8kg £8,05 from 8.5 kg to 10 kg £8,65 and from 10.5 kg to 30kg £10.10 So you can appreciate why i feel thy are better value for money than the royal mail on larger parcels even if they take that bit longer. I have had quotes from u.p.s and others but unless you have a large regular volume to send then they are far too expensive.
