Advantages: Excellent lightweight and bomb-proof frame. Strong durable components. Disadvantages: Slightly pricey with mid-range components.
In 2006 I purchased a 2005 Kona cowan frame that i could custom build. This review is based on my experience on using the frame rather than the full bike supplied by Kona. Despite this I can comment on the specification and value for money of the full bike. The best feature of this bike is certainly the frame, retailing at around £499 alone. The components on this bike are chosen based on there performance as jump bike components. Taking into account what this bike will be used for, all the components are strong and durable. The more you pay for bike components, the lighter and more efficient they become without sacrificing any strength. The components on this bike are fairly average when compared to the quality of the frame. Therefore I think the bike is a touch over priced at £1000 rrp, but certainly worth the money. The frame itself ...

Advantages: Good guests Disadvantages: Biased interviewer
It seems that Parkinson is the English show that the majority of major American stars do when they are over here, and also features very well known English celebrities. However, I really don't know why Parkinson is seen as 'the' chatshow to do.
Michael Parkinson is completely biased towards everyone he interviews and needs to take it his head out of their backside long enough to ask them a 'real' question. The viewer doesn't actually find out anything about the interviewee (maybe why the celebrities like appearing on the show) but are instead made to watch them being continuously praised for everything they have have ever done, regardless of whether it is good or not.
Although not a big fan of Jonothan Ross, I can see why his talk show is competition for Parkinson, he asks awkward questions, puts stars on the spot and has a laugh ...
Advantages: Nimble, quick and forgiving handling Disadvantages: Heavy, expensive and less than adequate toolkit
The term 'modern classic' may be an overused term, perhaps not quite on the scale of 'genius' however, by any standards BMW's R1200GS surely falls within this category.
BMW have been building bikes for over 70 years - you'd think they just about got it right but every now and again they pull something out of the hat where the sum of the parts are very much greater than the whole.
Until Messrs Boorman and McGregor did their 'Long Way Round' trip, BMW were probably best known (in the non-motorcycling world) for making big expensive touring bikes - either owned by middle aged blokes, or painted white and used by the police.
In fact the original GS concept was developed in the late 1970s, and defined the 'Big Trailie' .
GS stands for Gelände/Straße - which is German for offroad/ street.
The earliest model made came out in 1980 ...
