Advantages: none Disadvantages: extortionate fines
...I understand that parking restrictions and fines need to be in place, especially in city centres, as it would cause chaos on the roads. However, I do feel that I must vent some of my anger on the way my Local Authority in Bristol works in terms of parking.
The charges for parking are astronomically expensive if you wish to park in the centre of Bristol. I often see traffic wardens hunting around in 'packs', prowling by cars on parking meters so they can instantly give them a ticket as soon as they go one minute past the ticket expiry time.
Traffic wardens are now paid commission on how many tickets they manage to give out, they also work until midnight now as the majority of the parking meters charge up until midnight. I hate them, they are the dregs of society.
They purposely print tickets that you must display on your car...

Advantages: none Disadvantages: Robbery without any recourse to the law
...SOn had 3 trumpets and other items stolen from car (£4.5K) Went to Brum market to look for them got parking ticket for parking on yellow lines even though all other cars were. Following week son goes back to market and parks in an office park (sunday, no-one there) but got towed away, (didn't see miniscule notice) To get the car back had to ring mob number and we were not allowed to collect it then charged £375 to get it back. We are very upset and feel we have been robbed twice as these rogues seem to be legalised thieves. The Police are not interested. We are going to write to Birmingham Council but what else can we do to get some justice?...
