Parsley is one of the most common herbs used in the UK. To me, parsley tastes like water from a pristine creek - crystalline, mossy, with the nip of crisp mountain air.
The usual versions we recognise are curly and flat leaf but there are several varieties. In my opinion every garden needs some parsley with its celery-like stalks, tasty leaves, seeds and even the root, which is edible. It is easy to grow and good to taste..
Parsley is a biennial ... ...including moss curled and flat-leaf parsley . Full of health benefits and packed with Vitamin C just two teaspoons daily will be beneficial for you.
·Trivia
I once read that Parsley is sometimes grown as an ornamental edging plant. .I recently saw this very thing with curly parsley in a neighbours flower border and have to agree it looked quite good.
There is an old saying that parsley grows fantastically when a pregnant woman is tending the plant.

This parsley is used in many recipes. It is believed that if you have eaten a lot of garlic eating some parsley destroys the odour and I have read it is an anti –flatulent!
I shall have to try it after eating cabbage and cauliflower. But be careful I have also read large doses of the oil or leaf can cause abortion.

Advantages: Makes a delicious sauce, good for you Disadvantages: Slow growing, needs warmth
I love parsley but I find it requires a fair bit of patience as its quite slow growing. However, this maybe because I live in Scotland where the climate is cooler than the rest of the UK. I don’t remember it being quite so difficult when I lived in Birmingham. Parsley plants are readily available in garden centres but you can grow it from seed. However, parsley seeds require a relatively high temperature to germinate. So when you have sown the seeds ... ...over the slow growth of parsley seeds but they have always eventually got going.
Parsley plants can continue growing in a pot or the ground but where ever you choose it really should be warm and sunny. If it is slow patience will eventually be rewarded and its so satisfying to nip off a few sprigs and make one of the best sauces around – Parsley Sauce. I make mine the easy way. I first make a white sauce with cornflour, (see packet for instructions) ...

Advantages: great herb multi uses Disadvantages: eratic and tricky germination
...pleasures in life.I have grown parsley now for over fiften years and it is one of my favourites for sure.
Parsley can be slow to germinate but I start mine off indoors in February in gentle heat on the windowsill.
I allow three weeks for the seeds to germinate the trick is to expect a few not to come up so always sow more seed than what you will need to compensate for this.
Once the young seedlings appear they are tender and vulnerable to frost ... ...great mind blowing flavour.
Parsley is a biennial . This means it is short lived and will run to seed in the second year after sowing . This is normal and therefore I always keep a packet of seed handy . Then I can replace the life expired plants and I don't run out.
It is possible to pick parsley all year round this way as long as you provide indoor protection in the winter.
I use parsley in sauces for fish etc , with potatoes and in soups . ...

...was really surprised what properties parsley had to offer. I guarantee that after you have read this you will be buying parsley either fresh or dried. Now let me begin before you get too bored.

Parsley is one of the best known and most widely used herbs. It is in fact a member of the carrot family. (See something new you learn everyday!) It’s actually a biennial but usually cultivated as an annual because the first year leaves have the best flavour. Parsley is most often found in fresh salads or as an uneaten garnish. Advantages: Easy to grip bottle, reasonable price Disadvantages: Inefficient, too perfumey
...Active:naturals washing up liquid with extracts of parsley and lemon
As one who seems to spend life washing up (as opposed to having a washed up life, I suppose), I have yet to find the perfect washing up liquid. One that smells nice, doesn’t mess up my skin and that actually serves to wash up. So, as part of this quest, I have tried this product and bring you my findings.
This one is made by Sainsbury’s and priced at 79p for 500 ml. It comes in an uninspiring squat and squeezy clear plastic bottle with a pull-up top. It dispenses relatively efficiently, but like all washing-up liquid bottles, it does get slightly messy in use and this one can’t even be made into a rocket (Blue Peter style) once the contents have gone. The bottle does have indentations making it easier to grip – but if you hold it in the way suggested by the shape...

Advantages: A spicy ancient herb growable in England Disadvantages: Long Winded Op be warned
...Linda asked me how I came by my name of Coriander. It seemed only fair that I should extrapolate a little for being such an ancient herb there is still a lot that people don’t know about me.
I intend to set the record straight and hopefully help people to care more how they treat me. You see I am a member of the Parsley family and was abducted from my home by a group of rampaging Romans (Not the Vikings this time). This, is the only tribe I can remember clearly and since I’ve been around since 5000 BC you can understand my forgetful memory. I did hear a rumour that I Coriandrum Sativum originally came from South Western Europe and the Mediterranean. I remember my ripe seeds being plucked and placed in Egyptian tombs. The lord knows why for I could be of little use to them there except to smell spicy!
I believe I have...
