Advantages: great fun for all the family Disadvantages: DVD can scratch!
Me and my family love board games and when this game first came out we got it straight away and couldn't wait to play it. It takes time to set up because there's loads of keys in different colours which need to be separated and put in the different colour sections. After playing the game though you realise its worth the time it takes to set up, but even so it still only takes about 5 minutes to set up so really that's not that bad is it? The good ......and it mixes them up so each time you play the game it's slightly different. Also it's great when you beat the gatekeeper!!! The game is also set to exactly 45 minutes so you know how long the game will last at most! the only disadvantage is because it's a DVD it can scratch and obviously if the DVD doesn't work you can't play the game! although you probably could it wouldn't be quite right. You can go to GameStation and they have a machine which ... Read review
Advantages: Versatile, Disadvantages: When you can't guess it!!
I actually came across this game whilst meeting up with extended family a couple of years ago. We stayed at a hostel and next to the ageing Monopoly and tired-looking Cluedo with a missing spanner and no Colonel Mustard we found a game we'd never heard of before....Dingbats. This in itself looked rather tired, the box was fading and dog-eared. But we pulled it out and had a look. Inside were a lot of cards with strange letter combinations, numbers ......card, guessing the phrase or saying it was trying to depict. Now there may have been a format to this game, a way of sitting down round a table and playing with the aim of someone winning, but we just took random cards out and held them up, to see who could figure it out. Sometimes we played with just two of us, sometimes three or four, or maybe more would join in. And it has us playing for hours, literally. There were so many cards and it was just ... Read review
Advantages: Good fun game for all the family Disadvantages: none
...when having friends round for the evening, that it's good fun to finish up with a game, which is why we recently acquired The Big Taboo. THE GAME I've been aware of the game of Taboo for years and do remember playing it in the past. However, this is a more updated and wider version which encompasses the principles of Taboo (which is basically to describe objects etc without saying the taboo words) along with other skills as well. The game is made ......age of at least twelve. The game comes in a bright colourful box and intriguingly with a strange purple puppet peeping out of a sellophane window! (More about him later!).It comprises of a traditional board, two team tokens, question cards in different categories,a word marker, a notepad and pencil, a timer and Bob (the puppet!). THE AIM AND HOW TO PLAY The aim of the game is for the first team to arrive at the finish by successfully giving clues ... Read review
Advantages: Addictive, easy and quick to play Disadvantages: Small pieces potential hazards for young children
...the way to go! And Snakes and ladders is the board game of all board games! Perfect for a rainy day, in the car, on a train, on a picnic, you name it, this game is good for it! The game is good for any number of players! The only problem I find is that of course the dice and counters are small, and could be a potential hazard to small children getting them in their mouths or whatever. ... Read review
Advantages: Really great use of initiative and is good to make Disadvantages: Boring when you actually play it
Make your own opoly In 1934 Charles B. Darrow presented Monopoly to the Parker Brothers, however they rejected it due to 52 design errors! However, Darrow was unemployed at the time and believed that this game showed promise so he decided to produce it himself! Mr Darrow gained help from a friend who worked as a printer at the time, he sold 5,000 handmade sets to a department store in Philadelphia. As demand grew he quickly found he couldnt keep ......this time accepted the game. In it's first year (1935) Monopoly was the best selling game in America and, to date, an estimated 500 million people have played. 1943 - 1947 - During the metal shortage in WW2 Monopoly tokens were made out of wood 1970 - The first Braille edition of Monopoly was produced 1978 - An all Cholcolate version of Monopoly sold for $600 It only took a week or so for ...
