I have a small backyard, that is my little haven. It is in the middle of an estate in West Yorkshire and to most people a backyard is just somewhere to put the rubbish bin. In mine I have four patio roses that I have had since I moved in five years ago, every year they give me such pleasure to see them flowering and the scent from them is excellent for such a small rose. I have other plants in my garden, but the ones that I have had from the start have been my Sweet Magic and Cider Cup patio roses.
They do not have a long life span, which is abit off putting, but believe me if you look after them, they will flourish for some years. They need a little pruning in the autumn once the majority of the flowers have finished and topping with some good compost, just to keep them fresh. Come the spring you will see new shoots coming across the branches and again you will have a flourish of flowers.
These little roses really are ideal for a putting in containers, but make sure they have enough drainage, they are like most other plants they don't like to have their feet too wet. But they do like to be kept damp in the summer. They are resonably priced at around £5ish, but really are worth every penny.
>:-( grr i bought my mam a burgandy patio rose 2 years ago and hes thriving still in his little wicker basket, but i bought 2 this year and they died within a week!! :( x
I never realized there was so many different types of roses out there. I also did not know that you could grow them in a container. VH and informative review!

You're so right! You don't need a big garden to grow roses. Nice op!
