Patriot Games - Tom Clancy

Basically you cant make a good film of a clancy book leastwise not if you have read the book first. Dont get me wrong the film on its own and the book on their own are great its just the pair should never be seen together as the film only bears a small resemblance to the book. So this is where we find out how Jack Ryan joins the CIA, and why he joins the CIA. The book starts off with Jack Ryan in London, The first line is very good. “Ryan was nearly killed twice in half an hour.” I just think that it is a very good way to start a book, it also sets the scene for us, because it goes and explains that first he is nearly run over by a double Decker bus. Patriot Games is the next book in the Clancy series of books that contain the character of Jack Ryan, this book sees Ryan becoming a hero and saving the life of The Prince of Wales. In these fast moving times it is hard sometimes just to sit down with a cup of coffee, curl up in bed and read a good book. A lot of people just wait for the 'film of the book' to be released. I read Patriot Games a year or so before the film came out on video. I could not put this book down. I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed Jack Ryan kicking some butt. The plot is ex-CIA agent Jack Ryan was trying to enjoy mixing business and pleasure over here in jolly old England - when he stops an assassination attempt on members of the Royal Family.
