Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo

...special shampoo is part of Paul mitchell's tea tree range which has has specific focus on dry, itchy and drandruff prone scalps.. he has three shampoo's in the range, one is the tea tree special shampoo, the tea tree lemon and sage (thickening) and tea tree lavendar and mint (moisturising) I bought the last one.. while i know this is a review for tea tree special shampoo i couldnt find it on Ciao, also all three have very similar ingredients.
...that is in the standard paul mitchell white bottle it is likely its a pretty old bottle of shampoo - i wouldn;t buy it if i were you.

I chose the tea tree lavender and mint because my hair is chemically processed and a s a result pretty damamged! As this is moisturising I picked this one. I was able to get the shampoo and conditinoer for 20 pounds and the bottles were a bottle green color and was 300ml. The new Tea tree range is all packaged in bottle green bottles so if you see one that is in the standard paul mitchell white bottle it is likely its a pretty old bottle of shampoo - i wouldn;t buy it if i were you.

The main detergent is ammonium laureth sulphate which is very strong detergent and can on very sensitive scalps cause tightness, dryness and irritation - another group of people I would ask to avoid the range.

Havig said that, aside from a little tightness on my scalp it was left very well cleansed and the most amazing thing was tht it left my hair feeling like silk and very very shiny.. in fact i barely needed to use conditioner after shampooing as it left it tangle free and soft as if i had already conditioned. I also only needed the tiniest amount (roughly 50p size) of shampoo for my long thick hair and it was able to lather very well, while also rinsing clean.

The smell is something to one's own preference, while tea tree works very well for me wehn i have acne or otchy scalp i find it a bit nauseating, the combined with the lavender smell was awfull and i often kept the bathroom door open to allow the strong smell to spread out instead of choking me!! Also as it dried my scalp a fair bit I had to alternate with another gentler shampoo (body shop's honey) to stop it becoming too dry. It did work very well I have to admit, it got rid of all the flaking and itchiness as it contains slaycilic acid it gently exfoliates ur scalp while washing and if you suffer from mild psoriasis, itchy scalp, mild dandruff salyclic acid shampoos r the best thing to sort it out. It not a shampoo i would buy in bulk and use on a regular basis but wehenevr I have itchy, oily scalp issues I know I'll be repurchasing something from the tea tree range - possible the lemon sage next time!

Hope the review is of a little help to u all.. I bought mine from a salon upon reccomendatin which i suggest if its your first time buying paul mitchell, but once you have found what you like there are great offers online, were you can buy 500ml bottles for as cheap as 7pounds!! - less than what i paid for a 300ml bottle at browns!

oh one final point - while iv heard the tea tree special shampoo cant strip hair of colour, the tea tree lavender and mint shampoo specifically says it can be used with coloured hair and I didnt notice my hair colour fading any quicker than usual - if anythig it made it shinier and brought the colours out more.
