I would just like to write a review on the shop known only as Peacocks, based on my own experiences of using the one in Plymouth (and for those of you who wish to know or who are just being nosey, then it is actually in fact based in the Armada Shopping Centre which is a small shopping centre based on the outskirts of the main city shopping centre and is anchored by an avergely sized Sainsbury's shop).
This is a clothes shop, and the clothes that they sell are dividied up in to sections - meanswear; womenswear, and childrenswear. In the childrens section, the clothes are split up in to not only ages but also by sex. Within the other two sections, clothes are normally grouped together by what they are - so jeans are together; coats are together, and so on. During seasonal times such as Christmas, they do also start to sell Christmas gifts. My only gripe really is the layout and presentation of the shop, and this is mainly due to the size of the unit that it is currently occupying. It is as if they are trying to get the same amount of things to sell in to this particular shop, that they would do for a shop that is about a half the size times bigger again. But nonetheless, they do try to keep things as tidy as they can (which isn't easy when a lot of the time they get single parents in which tribes of about three kids per person!).
The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, and if you can't find anything (which normally isn't that often) then they will either tell you when it will be coming in or will tell you where else within the city you may be able to find what it is that you are currently looking for - so they aren't even remotely bothered about sending any potential business to another shop!Leading on from this, they are also extremely quick to notice when the queues are starting to increase and so they will then adjust the numbers of staff who are on the tills accordingly.
Their prices are also quite low, and I will give you one or two examples from the mens section (obviously). They do quite a lot of two items for a certain price (such as two pairs of jeans normally for around £15/ £20 or two t-shirts for a fiver or so on); seven pairs of socks in one pack for three pound; new lines for under ten pound, and so on. For students, the Plymouth branch (it being located right in the middle of the large student population that we currently have of around 30,000) there is a 20% disocunt right the way throughout the course of the year on production of any valid student card.As with all shops, they have the usual 28 day returns policy but as in my own opinion their quality and standard of clothes is so high I have never personally had to take anything back (unless I have picked up the wrong size of something by mistake but they are normally pretty good about this).
I personally cannot recommend this shop enough to you, and please don't be put off by the low prices - I know that many shops have been had up for price fixing and so on, but these as a company are actually on the whole are pretty good to buy from. So go try them out!
