...1807 a dude called Andrew Pears created a soap bar and aptly named it Pears Soap.
Pears soap is a hypoallergenic and Non-Comedogenic soap; which basically interprets as: it is suitable for people who have sensitive skin and it won’t clog pores.
The soap contains natural oils and glycerin, making it a natural way to obtain clean and healthy skin.

Pears soap is simply packaged; in a predominantly white cardboard box, with a few pictures of the soap upon it. The box contains understandable information of the soap as well as its ingredients (see pictures).
The soap bars are all 125g and can be bought from supermarkets or chemists for approximately £0.87.

I have annoying skin, most soaps either leave it feeling oily or dry. One week after running out of my Neutrogena visibly clear body wash and lacking the funds to replace it. I went in search for a cheap soap that was suitable for my requirements. I stumbled across ‘Pears soap’ on reading the packaging; it sounded apt for my skin and so I decided to give it a whirl.

Upon opening the soap we are greeted by a unique; mild and pleasant clinical smell: the actual fragrance is difficult to pin down to a particular aroma. The smell is not overpowering and does not linger after application. On appearance it is a good-sized chunk of a transparent amber coloured soap with ‘Pears’ indented upon the top and bottom of the soap bar. The soap lathers up extremely and impressively well.
I found the soap to be enormously effective, as claimed, my skin looked clean and healthy. It caused no irritation to my somewhat sensitive skin and my skin was clear, with no clogged up pores. The soap neither dried out my skin or left it feeling oily … result !
Pears soap actually turns the metaphor ‘squeaky-clean’ into actuality; after using it: feel your skin (whilst still wet), it truly squeaks! I have learnt that if your skin squeaks, it suggests that you have over-cleansed and may be prone to drying out. This has never been a problem for me, however be aware ...
With the soap being glycerin based, it results in the soap seeming to disappear rapidly lasting only a month, or thereabouts; however this is counteracted by not producing the slime that non-glycerin soaps leave when left to stand.
Comparative to other soaps, Pears is on the expensive side however this is forgivable due to its effectiveness and the lack of slime.
Overall I find this to be a simple and practical soap, it smells pleasant and cleans effectively. I shall continue to use it and I recommend it to all.
Advantages: pure, gentle and caring. Disadvantages: none
...it is really worth it. Pears soap is also suitable for sensitive and babies skin.
The soap itself is quite a firm bar and keeps its firmness even after washing, unlike some soaps that claim to be all that and just fall into a soggy mess on the wash basin, I find most of these soaps are a waste of money as most of it is washed down the plug hole and are used up within a very short time. As I have said I have been using this bar now for about two ... ...the washbasin. Andrew Pears developed the soap, a Cornish man and farmer’s son from Mevagissey where he trained as a barber. He arrived in London and opened a shop in Gerrard Street, Soho where he sold Powders, Rouges and creams to help cover the affects of the thick white chalky make up they used back then.
You may have seen pictures of the upper-class people of those days with awful white make up on, this was worn because common folk and peasants ...

...years ago, the mention of Pears Soap always conjured up pictures of grannies and other elderly ladies, claiming, “This is the best soap you can buy”, and was to be shunned at all costs, in case my friends would think I was old-fashioned. Why should I even consider this oval, amber coloured soap, when there were all the choices of colours to match my decor, wonderful scents and even soaps containing moisturisers to keep me beautiful? WHAT IS PEARS SOAP.
Believe it or not, Pears soap has been around since 1789, when it was developed by a gentleman called Andrew Pear for the upper classes in London society. Normal folks like you and me in they days couldn't afford luxuries like soap. Ah, the good old days. (and no, I wasn't actually around then).
Pears soap is made from pure ...

Advantages: Smells nice. Lasts a long time. The price Disadvantages: None
Pears soap has got a lot of memories for me. I can remember it way back when I was a child. I only ever knew one person who used Pears soap. And that was my elderly Auntie. She always had a bar of Pears soap sitting by her kitchen sink. There was never a time when there wasn't a bar there. So, of course, I used to used this soap round hers. And that was the only time I ever used to wash with Pears soap, as nobody else I ever knew used Pears. So, ... ...normal sized bar, with the Pears name indented on the top and bottom of the soap. It also says it's transparant. It is to a point. The smell of the soap is quite strong and potent, and most probably not to everybody's liking. But the aroma is very different and unique. The instant you smell this, you will know it's Pears. It's hard to descibe the smell. It's not really a sweet smell. It is somewhat bitter, but a pleasant smell. It is, perhaps, the ...

...but we each took some Pears Soap with us, -somehow the scent of this unusual soap transports me back to those days instantly. Every now and then I buy a box from Boots. It is cheap -only 69p and for this you get a relic from times gone by, in more ways that one, because it really has been on our shelves for centuries. Now made in India the soap has come a long way from its roots, but it is unique and something you never forget. The white box houses an amber gem which has an unforgettable scent. In many ways I would say it is a fresh woodland aroma and for this reason it can be used by either sex. It is a lovely oval concave shape and it has the words "Pears Transparent Soap" written on the bottom, and the words ...

...glowing reviews and raves about pears soap I decided to try it out instead a shower gel the other day I picked up a bar of pears soap. of blue and yellow towards the top of the bottle. It looks sexy, sassy and independent and would not be embarrassing to have on show, even on my middle-aged dressing table!
***The Smell***
Strong! I will say this only once ? use VERY sparingly; otherwise you will smell like the make up hall of Debenhams.
Included in the top notes are citrus accord, blue hyacinth, jabuticaba fruit and orange flower. Middle notes include orchid, jasmine and honeysuckle and we have undertones of natal plum blossoms, ambrette seed, zebrano wood and golden melaleuca bark. Wow. Never realised it took quite so much to make one perfume.
My own description of the assault on our nasal senses would be that this scent is woody, yet flowery; musky, yet fresh. Does anyone remember Pear?ssoap (beautiful child photo comp. Every year for Miss Pears?). Well ...

Lux soap is a very famous household bodycare product. There are a range of Lux soaps including Lux Beauty Soap and soaps specially for oily, dry and normal skin.
I regularly buy Lux ,for Normal Skin, in packs of three 100 gr bars, when I was a young boy my Mother did likewise and I guess her Mother too bought Lux soap for her family. Indeed there can be few British households who are not familiar with this very famous brand.
Lux soap is produced by the mighty Anglo Dutch multinationalcompany, Unilever, and they also produce other well known brands including the likes of Pears and Dove soap. Lux is a widely available product and my 100 gr bar which I am currently using is a nice creamy, white colour, has a pleasant but not overpouring smell, and lathers well.It comes in a blue and white packet and is said to be specially enriched ...

? to be cinnamon stems.)
But its not about how pretty it looks, its about how effectively it works and as the Red Rooster has been around for as long as I can remember whilst other Lush soaps have been discontinued never to be seen again I can only assume it must be a popular one and therefore must work.
The fragrance of this soap is allegedly orange and cinnamon but to me it doesn?t smell like either. I expected orange and cinnamon to evoke feelings of Christmas, but this doesn?t really smell of anything. The nearest thing I can describe this to is Pearssoap ? the smell is very similar and it goes transparent orange when wet in the same way.
Now I have quite a soft spot for Pears because I was once a runner up in the Miss Pears competition and instead of the fame and glory that being the Pearssoap girl awarded the winner, as ...
