Anyway, the amp itself is approx 24cm in height, approx 30 cm wide, and approx 22 cm deep. Id say it weights about 20 lbs too. so if you measure it up, its pretty small. Its only a 20W amp, but dont let the size fool you, this baby can get pretty loud with the bass volume and amp gain at full, infact, ive never had it at full volume. a small amount of volume is just fine for me, its only a practise amp after all, it doesnt need to reach 300 decibels, just needs to be loud enough to get the nice bass sound out of it.
The speaker on the bass is about 8 inches and is protected by a black grate infront of it. on this grate is the peavey logo as writing at the top, and the logo symbol at the bottom.
At the top of the amp is where you have all your controls and things. from left to right it goes like this:
Input( where you plug in your lead, which in turn is connected to your bass),
The gain control,
The low, then mid, then high equalization (gives you different sounds by putting the knobs to different numbers (between 0 and 10))
Headphones (obviously allows you to put headphones into the amp)
Power button - On/Off, there is a little green light which tells you if the amp is on or not. you can hear the amp humming anyway but its just in case.
This amp is a really good amp for beginners, or for any pro who just need a practise amp. i like to think im past beginner, and im told im very good by friends (i never say it myself because i dont like to be vein, plus i dont normally believe it). my point being that im getting alot better every day and i still dont feel the need to buy a bigger/better amp.
I like this amp alot, its small enough to carry around anywhere, although it is pretty heavey for its size. it has simple and easy to use controls on it, everything is labeled too, which will be very useful for beginners. i paid about £90 for it about two years ago, but its probably a bit cheaper now, id say about £80. its sounds expensive but its not compared to some amps, and it is a must have really. you obviously need to be able to hear yourself well when your playing. you can hear it if the amp isnt on, but because bass is so deep it makes it harder to hear. once you've played for a while you'll get what i call the "bassist ear" anyhow, which means you'll get better at hearing the deep sound, in front of you, and on the radio on songs too. this is very useful when your trying to work out a song. but this amp is a very good amp and i recommend it too ALL beginners.
If your a bassist reading this, you have my respect, if not, respect the bassists out there :)
