I heard my owner twittering on to her partner the other day. I’m sure you guys know how embarrassing it is when knee jerk reactions take over and you get a whiff of something you really really fancy. I can’t be the only one who ends up slobbering and drooling like a fool chasing my tail in exasperation until I can satiate my lust and sit licking my lips with immense satisfaction.
Well strictly speaking I have to blame my owner for this I’m afraid. You see I have a partner, Pansy, and believe me she is a right wuss too. It’s because of her that I have been subjected to a vile experiment…okay maybe it wasn’t vile but some of the things that came out of my bottom during the course of the experiment must have been pretty vile judging by my owners face.
You see there are two of us Beagles in this household and whilst I remain faithful to my heritage in that I will scoff anything and everything that remotely resembles food (well everything apart from Winalot as it gives me the Russian Trotsky’s, my other half Pansy is a bit of a snob and tends to turn her nose up at anything less than the best…yes Winalot! I’m sure she’s a half-breed even though her pedigree says otherwise.
I heard my owner twittering on to her partner the other day. Moaning on and on about the cost of dog food and grumbling that she couldn’t take advantage of the 3 for 2 offers on dog food because Pansy was so particular. It meant that she ended up with six bags of dog food, three bags of Winalot for the bitch and 3 bags of Wagg for moi. Then she said she needed a bigger kitchen as she had no where to store it all and then spent an hour banging on about how her back hurt due to having to hump the bags from car to kitchen. Yawn…no wonder my master fell asleep and let out a huge bottom burp…
So Mistress had a brainwave and decided to experiment with our food until she could find one that we mutts both agreed on. Eventually after much trial and error and sloppy doggy doos, rabbit pellet doggy doos, cowpat doggy doos, elephant slushy doggy doos and, shock horror, white crumbly doggy doos…(nice!) she finally found a brand we could both stomach. I was so relieved, you have no idea how exhausting all this pooing can be.

According to what I overheard my mistress telling my master each Pedigree adult portion is perfectly balanced with protein rich meat, energy rich cereals, essential fatty acids, fibres as well as oils and vitamins to provide me and the bitch with all our daily needs.
When mistress put a dish full of this “haute cuisine” under my nose I can tell you that my olfactory senses went into over drive and I howled with pleasure.
Before me was a sumptuous and appetising, not to mention, colourful mix of special biscuits which apparently are designed to be very crunchy. This is done especially to encourage chewing to help keep my teeth in tip top condition and aids in the prevention of bad breath. It is also preventative in the accumulation of dental tarter and plaque. Included in the food are lots of plump bright green peas and the juiciest, moist nuggets I have ever clapped my soulful doggy eyes on. The nuggets are filled with a gorgeous meaty filling which contain high quality proteins that help to support strong muscles…hmmmm great so my highly toned doggisceps will be in tip top shape for this year’s Crufts then.
Apparently Pedigree Adult contains a special blend of linoleic acid, Vitamin E and minerals, which will keep my slightly dry skin (no I have NOT got dandruff) and coat in excellent glossy condition. This product also contains selected natural fibres which help maintain good gut health…hmmmm maybe my master ought to have a bowl of this…I got downwind of him yesterday and it wasn’t good!
My mistress got the Original with Beef and Vegetable flavour for me and the bitch; and very tasty it is too…we have a race now to see who finishes first………I usually win but then I get told off for trying to eat the bitches food…but hey I was only trying to wash the dishes clean with my tongue. That’s gratification for you.
If I have one little growl about this product it would be that it can be a little dry and, as instructed on the bag, I like to have a bowl of fresh water at the ready.
This bag of dog food has a re-sealable zipper, which means that we always have fresh moist food and comes in 3kg and 6kg bags.
On the side there is a feeding guide, which gives the dogs weight and the recommended daily food amount in grams. This product is suitable for dogs weighing from 5 kg up to 60 kg…so it’s even suitable for that ugly Rottweiler next door.
I know my mistress is really pleased with our new food and finds it easy to prepare. I heard her telling Master only yesterday that she had never seen us looking so healthy and she was very impressed all round; especially as our doggy doos were nice and normal. Charming!
Personally speaking I must say that I feeeeeeel gooooood and my bitch is looking dandy too.

Pedigree isn't the top of the top by any means..but it is a reputable, tried and tested for many generations.
It is a brand that generally exerts and conjures up biased (or not) images of squeaky clean trust, quality, advice, but it is seperating the hype of advertising that causes problems down the food chain. One thing for sure,Basil thrives on it.

Advantages: Good and healthy for the dog Disadvantages: None
I buy Pedigree for my dog all the time. It's the most well-known brand of dog food around, it's reliable, and my dog LOVES it! I buy the dried dog food for her. The latest one I bought contains chicken, rice and vegetables. I paid £3.24 for a 2.5KG bag. And it is a protein-rich recipe.

Pedigree dog food is one of the most common dog foods on the pet food market, it comes in various varietys, including dry food bags, tinned meat, pouches and various dog treats. They have a range of foods including, puppy, junior, adult, senior and light diets to suit dog of various ages.

Advantages: clean, cheaper than tinned food Disadvantages: the ingredients might not be as good
...They were originally fed on pedigree chum tins and depending on the variety this occasionally ran throught them for want of a better turn of phrase. So she decided to try the dry food.
This stuff has helped that problem and it does seem to save her about £5-10 a month.

For ... ...get them accustomed to the idea. This seemed to do the trick. They get scraops and so forth still but they tuck into the dried food with gusto these days.
On the down side you do have to lug the large bag about but it does get easier as you start to get through it. You don't have to deal with the mess caused by 'wet' food. That is, no spoons to clean, no messy crusts around the bowl. Also, the dried food doesn't have the malodorous quality that ...

Ever since our Border collie dog Chloe came to live with us at 9 weeks old we have given her PedigreeChum. It started off as PedigreeChum Puppy food and we moved on eventually to the adult version, which is what I will review now.
I always buy the variety in gravy for Chloe. This has got nothing to do with what she likes unfortunately. It has everything to do with the fact that I find it a lot easier to get out of the tin, and break up in her bowl. I have to do this fairly quickly as with a cat and a dog, meal time are a little tense between the two, until they both have a bowl in front of them. Even then, one is outside and one is inside! Anyway in the words of Mike Reid - I digress!!
I buy these tins of dog food in packs of 6, although Sainsbury's have just started to sell the gravy variety in packs of 12. There is not ...

With recently having a dog we decided to feed her Pedigree pouches, she loved them we started off buying her the puppy packs which she enjoyed, when she was old enough we started buying her the small adult dog packs which contains eight pouches for £2.88 (Sainsbury's).
It contains 2 with chicken, 2 with lamb and poultry. 2 with rabbit and 2 with beef, there is just enough in each pouch for her, as we have a Yorkshire terrier she does not eat a lot but she really enjoys these pouches and I found them to be good value for money. They do smell a little but so does all dog food and have big chunks of meat in them within minutes her bowl is completely empty. They are gently cooked which helps to retain more vitamins

Advantages: big range Disadvantages: runs right through them
I have seen the adverts, Yes the dogs do look extemely content, healthy, and on there marks to go. TO GO being the main words here, when ever my dogs have pedigreechum, it runs right through them, what is going on with it. A few years back it was the best money could buy, top breeders recommend it. well not to my dogs.
I admit they have a big range of varities, and on occassion they actually smell like what they are supposed too (well near enough, with a bit of imagination). Do you think maybe to much has gone into advertising there products, and the actual product itself has suffered, my dogs nowadays will not touch it. They run for the garden even before giving it to them.
So Im affraid this one is definately a no no for my dogs. ...
