Pedigree Denta Rasks come in a bright yellow and blue packet with a picture of a dog and the product on the front. They are available in a variety of different sizes.
I brought these treats for my two dogs, a Golden Retriever and West Highland Terrier, as they both have poor teeth and the packet described the treats as having a ''deep cleaning action which specially targets the back teeth where plaque and tartar tends to develop''. Large and small sizes are both available but I brought the small size for both of my dogs just because they were on special offer at the supermarket.
Neither of the dogs seemed that intrested in them, they sniffed them and walked away. I expected this from the Westie who is very fussy when it comes to new treats but was very surprised about the Goldie who normally wolfs everything down without a second thought. However in the end, both dogs did eat the treats. But when I gave them another one a couple of days later, they never got eaten and ended up in the bin.
The treats looked very bland and had no real smell. So I looked at the ingredients on the packet: Cereals, Minerals, Milk and Milk Derivatives, Derivatives of Vegetable Origin, Contains EU Permitted Antioxidants and Preservatives.
I was very surprised that they contained no meat at all, as this is obviously many dogs favourite food!
If fed on a regular basis I imagine these treats would be very good for your dogs teeth because on the one occasion that my dogs did eat them, they seemed very hard to chew and the dogs really got their teeth in to them. But if your dogs are anything like mine, they may find them a bit boring.
