The 3kg tub of paint removing paste is sold with a bottle of neutraliser solution and Peel Away papers. The concept of this paint removal system is that you apply a layer of the paste between 3mm-6mm to the area you want to remove paint from and then cover with a layer of the paper, smoothing it out to remove air bubbles. This is then left for a maximum of 24 hours. When the paper is removed then the paint is comes away with it.
This is very effective at removing paint but it is messy. If using this inside dust sheets and newspaper is mandatory, as well as using rubber gloves at all times.
As you apply the paste it is sometimes a little difficult to gauge the thickness you have applied, and the paint starts to dissolve almost immediately. The paper is easy to apply, but I would advise you to order extra paper as I ran out of paper before I ran out of paste with not all the windows stripped. The area I was cleaning had several layers of paint on so I left for about 6 hours.
After this time, the paper peeled back exposing the bare wood. The removal of the paste/paper combination works best when you scrape away using a spatula (and this is recommended) in the instructions. This is where is the messiest, as the you have a combination of paste and 'dissolved' paint.
You then wash down the area with clear running water and apply the neutraliser if you want to repaint the area.
This is an easy way to remove paint, it can be time consuming but you do not have to spend your entire time at the window as with other methods. Although I have used this on windows, it can be used on other items that may require paint removal, I have my sights set on my metal fence next (I just need to finish painting the windows).
