PopCap Games are known to be one of the best developers at making addictive, casual games. They have proved this with games like Plants VS Zombies and Bejeweled. Their latest game follows the same fashion as their last few games, simple but addictive. That game is called Peggle.
Peggle is probably one of the simplest games you can play. Their are circles scattered around the screen (known as Pegs) and a machine at the top that fires your ball. You aim the ball where you want to fire and click the mouse to shoot. The more pegs you hit, the higher you score. There are four types of pegs - the main ones being blue and orange. Hitting all the orange pegs will unleash Extreme Fever. This places five buckets at the bottom of the screen. Each one is worth different amounts and you will get the most points for landing in the bucket with the highest value. Then there are green and purple pegs. Purple pegs boost your score. The green ones have different effects, depending on which Peggle Master (see next paragraph) you are on. The crab adds flippers on the sides in the style of crab pincers and the magic bunny gives you a lucky dip which gives different effects.
It may sound boring and that you are not doing much, but it is fun and addictive.
There are several 'Peggle Masters' throughout the game. There are five levels for each Peggle Master and each master has a theme. For example, the sunflower has colourful and bright stages, while the pumpkin has fairly spooky stages.
The online is good, but lacks many modes. You can face off against a player, where you try and score the most points. Otherwise you can do a four player party where four of you face off. It can be just as fun as the normal game, but could have some more modes.
While it is not such a good game as Bejeweled in my opinion, it is a very fun game which is very enjoyable and witty. You get value for your money, too.
