Invest for your future with a stakeholder pension
Advantages: Value for money, convenience, variety Disadvantages: Value added, status
...individual who pays into a stakeholder pension plan will get tax relief payments.
- Under present tax arrangements, for each £1 you pay into the plan the Inland Revenue will pay an extra 28p into your plan, even if you don't normally pay income tax.
- If you pay income tax at the high rate you will be able to claim back the extra tax from the Inland revenue at the end of the year.
- If you take a cash lump sum when you retire, it is currently ... ...I have had 2 stakeholder pensions. My 1st with Virgin Money I took out in haste in 2002, I had 2 other pensions I wanted to tidy up (an occupational pension I wanted incubated, the other a private pension) I also wanted to make use of the tax advantages. The Virgin stakeholder pension offers simplicity with a choice of only 2 funds (and free movement between) and ease of use.
I moved to my second stakeholder pension a few years later. I'd had some ...

Like a Virgin (Saving For The Very First Time)
Advantages: Great customer service and communication, Good fund performance Disadvantages: The automated phone line can be frustrating to use
...with the product I chose, Virgin Money's Stakeholder Pension. - What is a Pension?
In its simplest form, a pension is the income you receive when you retire, paid to you in regular instalments (called an annuity). To build up a pot of money to pay this annuity, someone has to do some saving; what differentiates one type of pension scheme from another is how the saving is done, by whom, and how the income is generated from the saving. There are three ... ...so.
- My Virgin Money Experience At the time I was starting to first consider pensions the stakeholder pension plan was therefore ideal product for me, as it meant I could start building up an (albeit small) pension pot at low cost to myself. You may ask what the rush was given my relatively young age, and the answer is that pensions have a cumulative effect, so the earlier money is paid into it, the longer it has to build up in your scheme before ...

Pensions Simplified
Advantages: Making sure there is enough money at retirment Disadvantages: you need to invest alot for a good return.
With the new "A Day" legislation that came is April 6th 2006 by 2010 you are unable to take any personal pension until the minimum age of 55. The rules that surround pensions are very strict, and complicated, it has taken me well over a year to learn just the basics!! I believe that pensions are a good idea if started early enough, and the investment is a reasonable amount. At the time I opted for a personal pension I had no company pension scheme ... ...I hunted around looking for the type of pension that would suit my financial situation best, I went to many different companies which all tried to sell me a product that I didn't need or was not the right product for my situation. I finally came across Citibank, I got to speak to a fully trained financial advisor free of charge, who basically went through all possibilities for me, they didn't tried to complicate things for me and spoke in a language ...

Don't trust your money to AXA
Advantages: None Disadvantages: You'll lose out on months of interest and get nowhere
...to trust their money to AXA after my experiences of this company.
Their pension plan was recommended to me by an independent financial advisor, and since applying for a pension in April 2007 I have had nothing but trouble. They were quick enough to take the lump sum of money and put it in a holding account until the pension was set up. I waited about a month for confirmation of policy set up to come through, yet nothing arrived so I called them ... ...I am very frustrated with AXA at being messed around over so many months and that it is still ongoing. I'm also angry that I have lost out on a valuable number of month's interest. If things are not resolved shortly, I am thinking of writing to the Financial Ombudsman.
Please take my experiences as a warning and do not trust your money to AXA. ...

The all round money service
Advantages: Customer Service Disadvantages: They make money out of the customer!
...been a member of the Nationwide Building Society since 1978. Incidently I am only 38!
They have looked after any income that I have made. When the flexaccount was introduced in the mid-eighties I jumped on the bandwagon.
The Nationwide were one of the first to pay interest on a current account.
I now have a mortgage with them. They beat hands down the main highstreet sellers.
With services of banking, insurance, mortgage, savings you generally ... ...service I get from them.
With 3 young children they are already saving through Smart Accounts tax free.
With my accounts linked on-line and the children's also linked with mine I can transfer money to any account including ISAs.
The Nationwide beats most and I am happy to stay loyal. ...
