I've had this for just over half a year and loved every moment of it. Be aware as with any other SLR you will need a fair bit of money put aside for more lenses and accessories once the addiction starts kicking in.
Overview: As well as being aimed at those wanting to move up into the dSLR market, the k100d is suited for those seeking slightly better ISO performance or a smaller body at an affordable price.
Features: As well as the standard set you'd expect from any dSLR on the market, the k100d offers multi-exposure bracketing, which is ideal if you intend to delve into HDR photography. I do find the menu system to be slight counter-intuitive but its possible to stay away from the menus most of the time, in normal use, unless you need to change ISO specifically.
Image Quality: Don't be put off by the 6 megapixel sensor as it offers better low light performance than other higher megapixel sensor and can still be enlarged easily to A4 size prints with no real sacrifices. It's also worth noting that the 18-55mm it sharp for a kit lens especially if stopped down, but don't start expecting to get good low light shots without a faster lens or a decent flash.
Performance: To be honest, this is the only downfall of the k100d and to me it isn't terribly important, but it may be to those expecting high fps. Firstly, k100d takes a few second to start up from off, which is a fairly annoying wait. However, if the camera is left on it turns to a power saving mode that uses virtual no power and can only be woke by the shutter, which gives instant activation. It should also be understood that the autofocus speed and fps are a bit of a let down.
Conclusion: Despite the performance issues, i would still rate this camera over any other in its class due to its flexibility, image quality and ergonomics. Whatever you do, don't get too hooked up choosing a camera though, as the user and lenses are far more important and any major brand camera will excel if well used.
