I spent a year looking for my first DSLR and had decided to save up for a Nikon D200. I was looking to enter the low end of the pro market so that my camera had enough challenge about it, but after awhile I realised that the D200 was going to cost me about £1000 just to get started which would have meant another year of saving up. Then came the reviews of the Pentax K10D in the Magazines and their view was that it compares very closely to the Nikon D200. I looked around and found a great deal at £615.00 with kit lens and 1gig extreme III SD card and the screw on battery pack. I set the camera up and was blown away by the image quality on minimal settings. I couldn't have asked for a better camera to start off with really but it's not for total beginners as there are no scene modes.
