I've always had a interest in cameras and even as a child used an SLR 35mm camera, I was still happily stuck in my ways until borrowing a digital camera from my partner on holiday. Suddenly I had instant access to my pictures and no worries about not having enough film. I decided that it was time I joined the digital age and after a brief bridge camera trial I after long deliberation decided to buy the outsider, the Pentax K200d.

Despite being the makers of some fantastic glass they are so behind other manufacturers in the pixel race and as my skills grow I find that I need the comfort of being able to buy lenses for a range that I can progress with.
"Pros of the camera."
The camera itself is incredibly comfortable and light for a woman to carry even with a 300mm lens equipped and does take some very nice pictures.
There are some fantastic little tools on it as well and I was a great fan of the IR filter.
There's always somewhere to buy AA batteries which this camera uses.
Does take some beautiful shots and is fairly easy to learn the functions on which is great for even the most technophobe-like of us all.
Good value for money, there are some nice cheap Tamron lenses to expand with for far less than the big common names.
The kit lens is one of the nicest kit lenses out there and does take beautiful portraits.
SD cards instead of CF, you can get these a lot more cheaply. I carry two 8mb cards and I've paid less than £15 for them.
"Cons of the camera"
The sensor cleaner was a little disconcerting when it rumbled and generally would result in me screaming as the sensor got dirtier and dirtier seeming and then suddenly after a set of batteries had been used I'd have it clean again.
Purple fringing does seem to be terrible with this, I've spent endless hours fixing pictures and my new camera doesn't suffer as badly.
Poor performance in low light.
Intergrated flash set very low and can leave pictures looking very dark at the bottom.
Battery costs can add up so definately get rechargeables.
Your race for pixels so far stops at 14mp with the K20d and Pentax aren't looking likely to be doing any higher for a while yet.

Advantages: Articulating LCD,Can take pictures from many odd angles Disadvantages: all important controls are positioned awkwardly
I'm very excited to have this flagship DSLR camera with me.
E3 may just be the best choice for those shooting in harsh conditions and its strength lies in areas of auto focus, implementation of live view, dust reduction and environmental sealing. The Olympus E-3 is really more better and comparable to the cameras by Olympus's competitors that we've been categorizing as semi-pro,such as the PentaxK10D, Canon 40D, and Nikon D200.With the E-3, Olympus introduces their first new autofocus sensor in years. Company claiming that this is the fastest AF system on the market. Combined with greater 1.15x magnification in the E-3's viewfinder, framing and focusing with this Four-Thirds camera is a lot easier than past Olympus models.
The Olympus E-3's Power switch is located in a familiar place for Canon prosumer SLR owners, just off the lower ...

I spent a year looking for my first DSLR and had decided to save up for a Nikon D200. I was looking to enter the low end of the pro market so that my camera had enough challenge about it, but after awhile I realised that the D200 was going to cost me about £1000 just to get started which would have meant another year of saving up. Then came the reviews of the PentaxK10D in the Magazines and their view was that it compares very closely to the Nikon D200.
I looked around and found a great deal at £615.00 with kit lens and 1gig extreme III SD card and the screw on battery pack.
I set the camera up and was blown away by the image quality on minimal settings. I couldn't have asked for a better camera to start off with really but it's not for total beginners as there are no scene modes. ...

If you have got this far, then you probably already know that this is a Samsung branded PentaxK10D.
I have owned the camera for about 6 months, purchased with the 18-55 lens and the 55-200. My opinion so far is that htis is a fantastic camera.
Versatility
I have take shots of landscape, sports (anti-shake really helps here) and close ups. The camera behaves itself brilliantly & copes with most situations very well. The kit lenses are not Macro. It is worth noting the compatability this cvapera has with almost any old Pentax lens - I have an old Pentax P30n & the lenses work fine on this camera (though, of course, they require manual focus). The lenses also benefit from the anti-shake function, as Pentax have opted for an in-camera system.
Picture Quality
I have made some tweaks to the saturation to suit my personal taste, but ...
