Having spent over 3 months researching for a new digital camera I initially decided it had to be Pentax having used their top end slr's for some time.
You do need to spend a bit of time reading the manual - do this while the battery charges for the first time - about 2 hours - and you will soon have a basic grasp of what this camera can do. If you have used an slr before that will make the introduction a bit easier.
In simple terms you have a fully automatic just press the button digital camera PLUS a complete manual option to change any aspect of the way this camera takes pictures.
You have shutter priority, aperture priority, 4 flash modes, different focusing modes, exposure compensation, digital filtering, panoramic shooting, macro and super macro - the list just goes on and on.
Having charged it up it was time to go shooting. Anything that moved - or didn't move - was shot. All you do then is plug the camera into the pc usb port and transfer the pics over. You can use all sorts of card readers to do this but on XP it recognises the camera and installs it as a new hard drive making the process simple.
Picture Quality - I printed out a photo of my dog - exactly as taken without out manipulation. Every whisker and hair was clearly defined and with perfect colour representation. I then tried with a picture of the car, perfect reproduction even with a lot of reflection.
With the costant picture shooting mode you can capture still images of moving objects - just like the title sequence of the car in "The Sweeney" series.
After 2 months I haven't found anything to dislike. You will want to buy a bigger storage card as the supplied 16mb is far too small and you may want to buy a carry case to protect the camera in transit.
Other than that impossible to find anything wrong.

Sounds quite good. Wayne.
