It has a LCD ... ...the camera. This makes it easy to see the picture you are taking. However, the negative side of the camera is its lack of viewfinder so taking pictures on a sunny day can be a bit hit and miss.
It's very simple to use - easy to alter flash settings/ red eye reduction/ image size and quality etc. It is also simple to set the timer and to add a pretty frame to your picture.

It is a fantastic little camera - it's biggest advantage has got to be it's size - it fits in any bag and most pockets I would think ( no excuses for not having the camera on you at any time!).
It has a LCD screen which takes up three quarters of the back of the camera. This makes it easy to see the picture you are taking. However, the negative side of the camera is its lack of viewfinder so taking pictures on a sunny day can be a bit hit and miss.
It's very simple to use - easy to alter flash settings/ red eye reduction/ image size and quality etc. It is also simple to set the timer and to add a pretty frame to your picture.
It will store (using a 128MB SD memory card) between 53 and 1011 photos, depending on quality you want. Normally I have it set at good quality, 6 million pixels and that lets you take 121 photos of really decent quality. It will also let you record up to 17 mins of movies.
It has loads of features -probably far more than I have ever used (I think that if you look on any website selling the camera it'll tell you more).
In my opinion it is a great camera and excellent value for money. It's lightweight, easy to use and I've been really pleased with the photos it has produced, so pleased in fact that my parents and in-laws have bought exactly the same camera!

I bought this one beacuse of its small size, which makes it handy to bring along during trips...
Unfortunately image quality is fine only when the apparatus is perfectly still... i.e. virtually never in normal use!

This was my second digital camera I purchased and I can only advise a person looking for a compact, good value product to buy this.
There are many different features held within this tiny camera, it has many different modes, brightness control, exposure etc, all that you would expect from a digital camera, but the best features I believe it encompasses are that it is a small,
and with features such as auto-panning it can be very good for the novice.
... ...point and shoot-type pictures, e.g. those taken on holiday, however if you are looking for a professional camera, it may be wise to seek advice from a professional photographer, and to increase your budget by about twice as much again.
I would only advise you purchase this if you are looking for a good quality camera and know how to operate the different modes and know how to achieve the correct exposure etc. ...

I spent about 6 hours reading camera reviews in magazines and online before purchasing a PentaxOptios50. I paid £160 in the summer of 2005, which was a bargain then and it's probably a lot cheaper now.
The Good points:
I would call this camera a professional compact, it is small enough to fit in your pocket but with enough professional touches to make it a tool rather than a toy. For example you can attach it to a tripod, a lot of small silver compacts don't have that ability and show them up as being 'fun snappers' rather than for someone who cares about the photos they take.
Sturdy build; all metal case. Decent weight to it. Not cheap and plastic!

well 6 months ago i was looking for a new digital camera and brought a pentaxoptios30 it was a good camera until it broke after 2 days of use so i had it replaced and guess wot that one broke aswell so after getting my money back my friend suggested i look at a casio ex-z30 because it uses the same optical lense as the pentax so i did and o my god what a camera
I brought it with a 128mb card with the money i saved as the casio was cheaper
what a camera it comes with 3.2 mega-pixels a 2inch view screen,smc pentax 3x optical zoom,you have a choice of 21 best pre-programmed shot scenes,2 to 10second self portrat,upto 6minutes of videoor 8 minutes of voice(on128mb card)1xdocking station for 1 touch transfer to your computer,kodak software, picture quality is identical to the optios30 but more user friendly
