Pentax MZ50
This camera is ideal as an entry level SLR because it is so easy to use. It can be set to fully automatic (where you need not worry about setting the aperture or shutter speed) and has various picture modes (Landscape, Macro etc.) which mean you can use this as a point and shoot camera. The picture quality achieved in these modes is very good with excellent colour balance and I have had no problems with it. Automatic modes can be a little restrictive but this camera also features manual modes where you can alter the settings yourself. A lot more fun can be had with this and it is definitely worth practicing with them. The camera is very light and well balanced however it does hang awkwardly from the neck strap- a problem which is amplified when using longer lenses. Also for the light weight you do sacrifice some durability and the plastic casing can get easily scratched. The controls are intuitive and switches are well placed around the LCD panel. The `in viewfinder display` can be difficult to read in sunny conditions and I decided to buy a deeper eyecup to prevent the light leaking in through the viewfinder (the one supplied is virtually useless). If you just want to take a few holiday snaps then buy a compact camera. If you want to do something a bit different with your photography and get in to SLRs then this is well worth a look.

I love Pentax camera's, I have two a Z20 & a Z1 and would part with neither. If this is anywhere as near as good then you have a winner. Good op. Cheers Baz
