Sigma EX macro lens - 105 mm F/2.8

Advantages: value for money (compared to pro level), build quality,
Disadvantages: makes you think your a pro, but by its nature, proves you otherwise.

quality macro lens. It's a bit slow on auto focus, but if you shooting macro the chances are that the subject is pretty still. I use mine most days. Tech Spec: Focal length - 105mm Weight - about 500g Magnification - 1:1 f-stop range - 2.8-32 Filter size 58mm Mounts: SIGMA, CANON, NIKON, SONY, PENTAX Final point: Read about macro photography before buying a lens like this. The technique is NOT the same as 'point and shoot'. ...

Review of Sigma EX macro lens - 105 mm F/2.8

Sigma EX DG 70-200mm f2.8 HSM Macro

Advantages: Build quality. Finish. Range. Fast maximum aperture.
Disadvantages: Image quality not as good as expected. Chromatic Aberration.

removed whenever you choose to use the lens hand-held. Being an EX DG lens, it is suitable for use on either FF (Full-Frame) or APS-C cropped sensor cameras when it effectively behaves like a 105-300mm f/2.8 (on Nikon APS-C), 112-320mm f/2.8 (on Canon APS-C) or 119-340mm f/2.8 on Sigma DSLR cameras. These make interesting options on the APS-C size sensor cameras and it can be assumed the camera has a completely different set of values when used with such cameras to those when used on full-frame. Interesting? The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture provides great fun for shallow DOF (depth-of-field) shots where particularly at the 200mm end of the zoom, depth-of-field is excitingly shallow. Whilst the lens is referred to as 'macro' within it's descriptive title, the term is used somewhat loosely. True macro lenses provide genuine 1 to 1 life ...

Review of Sigma EX telephoto zoom lens - 70 mm - 200 mm F/2.8

Macro shooting, Sigma style-ee

Advantages: Good build quality and good value for money .
Disadvantages: Sigma`s claims not met and a slow auto focus .

, Nikon and Pentax and it is priced roughly the same across the board, it will have been designed with Sigma in mind so it probably gives its best results when fitted to a Sigma unit but I tested it with Sigma and with Nikon units and I have to say there was little difference if any at all. The lens has the option via a small switch on the side of being used in auto focus or manual focus which is great for serious macro shooting because all the macro photographers I know much prefer to focus manually to ensure they get the right focus and effect with every shot, some of the cheaper lenses do not offer this ability to change and therefore fall behind this lens. SPECIFICATIONS: Focal Length 50mm Max Aperture f/2.8 Min Aperture f/45-f/32 Angle of view 46.8 Elements/groups 10/9 Min Focus 189mm (1:1) Filter size ...
