There are two types of people in this world:

Group 1) those who love Coca-Cola
Group 2) those who prefer Pepsi Cola

I tend to incline towards Group 1, however, on occasion I can be persuaded to indulge in a little of Group 2, it all depends on what I want from the drink. If I want a soft drink that will give me plenty of energy that will also make me feel full I drink Coca-Cola. On the other hand if I want something to quench my thirst then I select Pepsi Cola.

I have been drinking fizzy drinks for as long as I can remember and I am so grateful to my parents for making me brush my teeth thoroughly after consuming soft drinks as a small child because this stuff can do some serious damage to your teeth if you don’t look after them! (Just a word of warning!)

Anyway, I always used to drink Coca-Cola, until one day when I saw a bottle of Pepsi Cola on the shelf of a local supermarket and decided to try it as a change from my treasured Coca-Cola. At that time Pepsi Cola came in red, blue and white packaging which rapidly caught the eye, recently though, Pepsi have dramatically changed their image by sponsoring Britney Spears and the like while completely transforming their packaging to reach a wider target market. The latest cans and bottles come in a cool, modern shade of blue but the taste has not been changed, well I didn’t notice if it has!

Taste? When you open the can (or bottle) the usual soft drinks fizz is released along with a pleasant smell that greets your nostrils. Take a sip and you are instantly aware that Pepsi Cola is more refreshing than Coca-Cola (when chilled), but as I said before, Coca-Cola is a much more substantial drink. Pepsi Max is, in my opinion, nicer than the regular Pepsi Cola but I find it near on impossible to consume Diet Pepsi at all! Recently Pepsi Cola have released Pepsi Twist which is regular Pepsi with a hint of lemon, but much like Diet Coke with Lemon, I found it a bit of a disappointment.

There are various size bottles and cans of Pepsi Cola available and you can find them almost anywhere. I have listed some prices below that were taken in my local area. These prices will vary from place to place.
  • 330ml can – around 50p (these can also come in packs of 6, 12 and 24 at varying prices)
  • 500ml bottle – around 80p
  • 1.5 litre bottle – around £1.10
  • 2 litre bottle – around £1.30

The main ingredients in Pepsi are:
Carbonated water,
Sugar
Colouring (caramel E150d)
Phosphoric acid
Caffeine
And Flavourings
