Picture the scene: me at my computer, just got back from a nose around the shop, half empty bottle of Pepsi max in hand, wondering why I hadn't picked up the original instead. I guess that pretty much sets the tone for my op.

To be honest (and proud) I haven't had a fizzy drink in a while as I’ve gone all out and decided on drinking bottled water as a healthier option.
But some times you walk past the drink cabinet in the shop and grab the first thing on hand. This is what happened to me. Being quite lazy I noticed the bottled water was on the bottom shelf whilst the bottles of Pepsi max were directly in front of me, not really a tough call was it?

~~What's Pepsi Max?~~
Most of you, well I am pretty sure all of you have heard or tried Pepsi the famous cola brand and rival of 'coca cola'. The 'max' variety claims to be the low calorie alternative with NO sugar. It is basically a soft drink with sweeteners. It seems to be healthier than diet Pepsi, which is confusing.

~~Taste and smell~~
Smell? Yes I happen to like the smell of cola. Not much to say on this but it smells sweet and pleasant and the same as the original Pepsi. I must say a better smell than Coke.

Now on to the most important part, taste. If you drink the original Pepsi than you will notice the difference of no sugar. I like my fizzy sweet so that’s mainly my reason for preferring the original. It does seem to taste like some of those 'own' brand cola drinks but remember, no sugar and low calorie. It’s not to bad a drink and there is one thing I like about it. When I drink coke and Pepsi my teeth tend to feel 'minging' with a fury feel to them (sorry that's the best way of describing it.) This is probably due to the amount of sugar content and therefore you don't get that with this drink. Overall its okay but to be honest I even prefer panda pops.

~~Packaging~~
The Pepsi bottle is a clear round type bottle with a simple label in the middle. The background of the label is an icy blue effect with black bits. Then there is the Pepsi label, a circle with a red top, white centre and blue bottom. Pepsi is written across the top of the logo in white and down the left hand side in big bold, red lettering in the word 'Max'. The bottom of the label has the words 'Maximum taste' and 'No sugar'.
Then we turn to the back and see a black section with the usual 'no litter' symbols, barcode etc. A bit about the ingredients follows and then the nutritional info (see below). The cap is blue with the Pepsi logo on it.

The packaging is simple but effective.

~~Price and availability~~
Pepsi Max is available pretty much everywhere they sell drinks. The bottle I have cost 79p for 500ml. Pepsi max also comes in bigger bottles including 1l and 2l, not sure of the cost. It is also available in cans for around 55p each and packs of 6, 12, 24 etc.

~~So to sum up~~
I think I'll stick to the original variety but if you’re on a low calorie diet this could be ideal for a quick fizzy drink. Nice enough taste but not the Pepsi we know and love and it would be cheaper to stick to own brands or panda pops if you like a smaller drink. I am going to recommend this on the grounds of a low calorie drink.

~Thanks for reading~
