Advantages: Unusual composition, luxury packaging Disadvantages: Poor staying power, not as unique as it seems
...The perfume house
Annick Goutal's niche perfumery house sells reputed upscale fragrances and body products that have only recently become available in retail outside France. Pure and naturally derived ingredients ensure that the often bespoke and innovative fragrances do not follow commercial trends but rather the often personally inspired fragrances are created around an olfactory note, e.g. honeysuckle or neroli, and tuned to perfection of ... ...of the fragrance. Many of Annick Goutal's fragrances use the same bottle theme through their range varying the colour slightly. These bottles exude the atmosphere of a by-gone era, most likely the turn-of-the-century 'golden age' when French perfumeries started to make stylish and chic perfume bottles for the expanding mass market.

Cherry, cherry baby!
Advantages: nice and light fragrance Disadvantages: can be expensive
...walking round shops such as The Body Shop and Boots and looking at (And more often than not;purchasing) all the wonderful products they had. I'd stock up with several items from the Natural collection in Boots then go spend ages in The Body Shop - the fruity smell of the different toiletries used to greet you before you stepped through the door..oh the days! Fast forward about 10 years and shopping trips to town are now normally a family affair and ... ...round my old haunts sniffing the latest perfumes for long! After taking the boys to see Santa in his grotto recently I was very pleased to see it had been placed right next door to The Body Shop in our shopping centre - maybe I could sneak in whilst hubby was queuing with the boys..? After sneaking away for a few minutes I headed straight to the fragrances and straight away saw a huge sign advertising the Japanese Cherry Blossom range. I saw their ...

A sexy, sensuous scent.
Advantages: Nice packaging. Smells great Disadvantages: May be too strong for some people
Dior Addict is a very sexy and sumptuous fragrance. It reminds me of satin and velvet. It is one of those smells that you will either love or hate. It has a very strong vanilla smell with musty undertones of sandalwood and berries. The packaging is very attractive. The box is a pearly, iridescent pink colour which changes in the light as it is made out of a sort of holographic material. It reminds me of the way that oil looks in a puddle. The words ... ...in dark pink lettering. The bottle itself is very simple with strong clean lines. It is a rectangular shape and made from dark blue glass. The colouring of the bottle adds to the sexy sensual feel. The dispenser is gold and circular with a sort of childproof cap which points in different directions for on and off. I don’t particularly like the on and off idea it reminds me of a kitchen or bathroom bleach spray.
The scent itself combines a strong ...

Advantages: Purple-theme, collectible bottle, price Disadvantages: Poor staying power for a floral oriental
... I discovered the Salvador Dali Parfums perfume house in 1999, the year Dalimania was released as have been following its new perfume releases. A relatively new release, Purplelips caught my eye when I was looking for a lilac scented spring-time fragrance earlier this year so I bought a 100ml tester of it on Ebay to try. The perfume house The perfume house Parfums Salvador Dali itself which was created and signed by Dali in 1982 to allow ... ...by himself in the 1950-60s. The actual development of the fragrances took off in 1985 starting with Dali Eau de Toilette for Women and Dali for Men with 27 fragrances produced to date. The packaging Purplelips Eau de Toilette is recognisable by its distinctive lip motive and is a representation of Dali's Ruby Lips brooch created in 1949 from ruby coloured crystals and faux pearls. The bottle has a fairly heavy, tall and stylish rectangle shape ...
