So after extensive research on the net I picked a relatively simple model to do. Now having no experience at all on building model ships I was relying solely on the instructions to tell me what to do. And while they did a good enough job most of the time, there where certain elements that could have done with a bit more explanation or a hint on the best way to do it. So after making a few errors I decided to purchase a book to help, and reading the title of this one, it seemed like the ideal one to get.

The book takes you through each and every step of model boat building from choosing the right kit for you, which tools and adhesive/paints would be appropriate, planking, all the up to how to do the rigging and even where kits come from.

Each chapter is accompanied by black and white photos of the stages involved in the build and the text is easy to follow giving very useful advice and hints on the best way to do things. Often the author will mention more than one way to achieve your goal and then it is up to you to pick which is best suited to yourself.

The author use several kits that are available on the market but all the advice can be applied to any Period Model Ship.
