Healthy eating issues continue to be matters for concern within the Western Societies, is it safe to eat this, or safe to eat that, what is really going into the stomach. Scamp is an old dog and set in her ways, well that was until Shaggie our eight-month-old rescued Lurcher pup arrived. Now, if we give Shaggie a new brand of food, Scamp has to try it too. I am really concerned that with all the chemicals that are in food today and having had the experience with Tiny (a hyper–sensitive rescued cat), I wish to provide the best for Shaggie and Max (the cat) our other rescued pet, as they have had a rough start to their short lives. Shane and I are Shaggie’s third owners in the space of her eight short months of life on this earth!
Genetically Modified ingredients are well documented but I am still not sure how safe they really are. The outcome of all this is the gradually increasing preference for pure,
natural products. When I saw an advert at www.freeinuk.co.uk for organic dog food Pero, I just had to try. ‘It’s all natural’ claim the manufactures. The dried samples arrive quickly and were soon eaten up by the three animals for supper. Not a biscuit was left!
** What is Pero**
It is a complete balance food for pets. It is an all-natural organic range of pet foods and is a Soil Association certified product. Pero Organic pet foods are produced without the use of chemical fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides. Animals find it tasty and is ideal with the increasing number animals with gluten allergies as it is hypoallergenic, being wheat and gluten-free thus helping to combat skin and digestive disorders. It is also free from artificial colours and added preservatives. I brought it from Tescos for Tiny a few times (sorry I forget the price), before he died, and he seemed to love it and it him!

Very useful information although a lot of it seems to have come straight from the website.

I still can't get my head around 'modified' food. It just seems such a contradiction in terms. Suppose we'll have to wait 40 odd years to find out the true effects. Nice op, Wulise.

Excellent op! When I get a dog (that means when i've persuaded my parents to buy me one) :) i'll know what to feed it on! Oh I learned lots too from reading that, namely the fact that Pero Foods Ltd. is in Betws-Y-Coed. (I lived in the village after Betws for about 5 yrs and have just moved from there and had no idea that was in Betws! [and the village is tiny so how I missed it for 5 yrs i'll never know!])
