Why, oh why, I ask myself, do good brand names play around with their products and end up making them worse, instead of better. It happened with Special K when they converted to bigger flakes instead of the tiny ones and the taste was ruined.
Um! Sorry getting carried away on another topic. Well, what they have done to Persil washing up liquid is a similar thing. (No, they haven’t made it into flakes.) Something has happened to the formula. I used to use Persil for when I hand wash dishes but went over to Fairy. The other day I decided to go back because I spotted a beautifully, milky, pale green coloured aloe vera Persil liquid and I really quite fancied it.
Anyway, I did my usual and just squirted the liquid into the wash up bowl, added hot water and started the job. There were a lot of bubbles for amount of the product I had used and a pleasant and fresh aroma, although I don’t know what aloe vera should smell like so I couldn’t describe it as such. The job was nice and easy and even a pan with scrambled egg on it came up clean with little effort.
When I had finished and poured the water away I found an undissolved blob of green wash up liquid on the side of the bowl. Now, I would have expected that to dissolve in the water.
I thought no more of it until I made a cup of tea. The cup had a distinctly scented smell. At first I though it was perhaps just one cup but it turned out that everything washed in that bowl had the same smell.
So, although the smell was pleasant and the product is thick and effective at doing the job, I will not be buying it again. Picking up a freshly washed mug, filling it with tea and then getting that perfume smell is not very pleasant. It’s a pity because apart from that it’s a very good product.
