INTRODUCTION
My cat Gizmo [not my choice of name I assure you] is not stereotypical when it comes to food. The stripey little gannet will eat anything in sight, including my spider plant, which has had all it's ends chewed off lol.
As with all living creatures, this food consumption ultimately brings about the daily ritual we all lovingly refer to as taking a...[rhymes with grit].
In my humble opinion, cat poo smells particularly bad, and I haven't found a cat litter to date, that manages to cover even a fraction of the delightful aroma bequethed from yonder cat bum.
So I figured I would invest in one of those dome covered litter trays, to see if it would make any difference to the pongy situation.
I nipped down to my local Argos, and came home with the Pet Friends Katloo, for the reasonable sum of £9.99 [can you put a price on fresh air? Almost a tenner's worth it seems].

DESIGN
My particluar choice came in a brown colour scheme, with an olive green handle and tray [there are other colours too].
The whole thing is made of a very sturdy plastic, and comprises of a litter tray, covered by an arched hood [with entrance hole of course], which is removable, and simply snaps into place, with the added assistance of four plastic clips.
It has a carbon smell filter, to help eradicate some of those nasty whiffs, and is supplied with a standard size scoop, for fishing out the logs and clumps.
It should be suitable for even the greediest of mogsters, as it is 15/16 inches in height, 22/23 inches in length and about 15 inches in width. The entrance hole is around 9 inches wide, with the actual tray being at least 5 inches deep [I used a ruler to gain this information for you as I couldn't find my tape measure lol, hence the roundabout figures].
PERSONAL NOTE: Not the most attractive of household items, but strong and light, and easy to clean. Just snap off the hood and give it a wipe. There are no annoying grooves to negotiate, so you don't have to weedle out any stubborn little unecessaries.
The scoop is a let down however. Mine has since been thrown away, due to the fact that it broke after a very short time. It is a very flimsy instrument, and I don't know why they bothered including it. Fortunately you can pick up better ones for little expense, but I would suggest doing this when you buy the actual Katloo.

USAGE
Gizmo took to it straight away, and whether or not she enjoyed the privacy is a matter for Dr Doolittle.
It certainly reduced mess. The usual wee rocks of catsan were no where to be found on my floor, as Gizmo happily proceeded to dig her way to China in an attempt to conceal her doings. She carries on like this for at least a good five minutes, and always ends up uncovering the whole thing anyway!
The odd little lump does still manage to escape, although this is usually when the cat exits the box and shakes them off her back leg.
As for smell, it actually managed to conceal part of it, and although you can never entirely banish the immediate aroma of processed Whiskars, it definately didn't hit your nostrils with the force of a virtual, minging shovel.
PERSONAL NOTE: I was pleased with my purchase, as it managed to improve the air quality a little, and reduce the need for getting my dustpan and brush out several times a day. Overall, it is much better than an uncovered tray, and if you don't mind having to unclip the hood every time to reach the nasties, then I recommend a loo with a roof for your furry little friends.
This is my first domed cat toilet, so I don't really have anything similar to compare it to, but I think that this particular one [with scoop exception] is of very good quality, and I am predicting [and hoping] that it will service the stripey one's needs for a long time. The carbon filter vent in the roof certainly seems like an excellent idea, and your nose will most likely appreciate it.
The price is reasonable, and I believe that this kitty lav is an overall winner. You have my recommendation lol!
A rating of 8/10 goes to the Pets Friends Katloo, along with a thumbs up.

I'm always a bit paranoid about whether our cat pongs out the house or not- since I spend a large part of the day at home I think I've become desensitised! I haven't seen these domes though- any chance of adding some pics? (I live out in the sticks in Eastern Europe where such devices are unheard of!) xxx Vicky
