peoples dispensary for sick animals
Advantages: reduced vet care Disadvantages: not very local, sometimes not that cheap, can give wrong diagnosis
...and bad treatment from the PDSA in the past. the PDSA are an animal charity to help people on low incomes with pet care and operations, if your in receipt of housing/council tax benefit then you can use them, But the hospitals are very few and far between and if you live in a village like i do, and are reliant on public transport it can be a nightmare.
Some people are under the impression the PDSA offer FREE care, this is not the case, And since ... ...so i travelled to the PDSA ( 1 bus, 2 trains, each way) and i was told it was nothing to worry about as it was just a wart. in october i took him back as i didnt like the look of this wart, and the british vet there told me he would have to have an operation in two weeks as it wasnt a wart it was a tumour.
he had the operation under sedation because hes 12 years old, but everything seemed fine, they gave me a printout of the costs at £147 i've paid ...

In - complete care vet
Advantages: They can give your pet medication that you can't buy... Disadvantages: Don't have the first clue, very expensive, waste of time
...I assumed that their own Companion Care vets would be perfect as they handle all sorts of animals all day long. I was mistaken. One of my ratties fell ill not long after they had settled in to their new home, so I naturally took her to Companion Care. They didn't have the first clue. Even I, after doing my own internet research, seemed to know more about the treatment of domestic rats - and I was a first time rat owner! They prescribed a ridiculous ... ...what they gave me and sorted the dosage myself at home using my own common sense. And the amount they charged was ridiculous. I wrongly assumed as they sold exotics the vets would be well educated - apparently not, I would not recommend the Pets At Home vets to anyone. Find a more experienced vet, or even do your own research - you may have to tell the vet what to prescribe you! ...

Location
Braemar is pretty handy for South and East Belfast, but is going to be a wearying trek from the North or East of the city, particularly in rush hour. It's on the Lisburn Road, close to the King's Hall. If you're coming from Finaghy, it's on the left hand side, just after the pedestrian entrance to Musgrave Park Hospital and is on the same site as Rascals' nursery. Coming from Belfast city centre take the Lisburn Road out of ... ...Visiting Braemar
Braemar is a small animal veterinary practice and will happy to see you if you have a cat, dog, hamster, guinea pig, etc. If you have a massive collection of tarantulas, snakes and lizards you might want to phone first and check that they have the necessary expertise (and perhaps devote some time to wondering if the menagerie goes some way to explaining why you're still single and friends don't seem to call as much as they used ...

An excellent remedy that works
Advantages: It appears to work very well Disadvantages: You shouldn't medicate your pet without having them checked out first by a vet
When you have pets in the house their health is important and as they get older it is not uncommon for the odd problem to arise. I noticed that one of my cats seemed to be spraying quite a bit in the garden and spending quite a bit of time licking and cleaning his nether regions which alerted me to the fact that he might be uncomfortable passing urine.
Time for a quick trip to the vets I thought especially as at that time I was planning to pick ... ...to the stress in the household. The vet checked my cat, Max, over and said he couldn't find anything untoward however it was possible he was feeling discomfort on passing urine. He suggested that I put him on a course of Cystease to see if that would help as it is a natural product which might resolve the problem. The vet said if it worked there was no reason why I couldn't make it a regular part of Max's diet.
Each capsule contains 125 mg of Glucosamine ...

Great care, excellent service and friendly staff
Advantages: Great service from an established local practice Disadvantages: Not much shade in the car park on sunny days
...the little branch surgery of Stowe Veterinary Group in Needham Market and we have been registered with the practice ever since. Fifteen years is a pretty reasonable length of time to assess the service and in that time I have seen a number of changes.
