Beware of PetPlan - Changing the Rules and adding Exclusions

Advantages: None - they backdate exclusions onto the policy and change the rules
Disadvantages: Everything - mis sold - staff do not understand breeds

I have been with Pet Plan for just over a year and now that my dog requires dental work they have decided to backdate the policy to exclude him because he has an undershot jaw which is actually a normal characteristic of the breed. Even though my vet has written to them they are still not giving in - I have reported them to the Financial Ombudsman as I feel that we have been mis-sold the policy and also informed the kennel club to ensure that breeders ...

thank god for pet insurance

Advantages: very quick at payin vets valie for money
Disadvantages: would go for the £4000 policy

Straight forward

Advantages: Straight forward claims form - very quick service
Disadvantages: None!

I have used Sainsbury's pet insurance for my dog for the last 5 1/2 years. I have made two claims. The first when my dog was aged 2 for a foot injury. The vets themselves filled in the claim form and Sainsubury's paid them direct. The vets were happy to see that my pet was insured by Sainsbury's. The second time was a couple of weeks ago and it was over 4 hundred pounds. I had to pay for the bill myself then claim the money back. The main waiting ...

Sainsbury's received my claim on a Tuesday and when I arrived home the following Tuesday the cheque was on my doormat with a very nice letter in it too. Advantages: A great company to deal with.
Disadvantages: None.

Less than good

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: excess is 10% of bill + £70!
