Advantages: An interesting and entertaining read Disadvantages: Some will find it difficult to follow
...In some ways this is a difficult book to review. Normally you will start at the beginning and go on to the end. You may get flashback and remerging of past events from time to time. Here what you have are a number of threads woven together to make a composite whole.
Very brief synopsis:-
The family of Nolan ra Sinjaria are killed in a war and his native land is conquered. Nolan travels a long way to seek vengeance by joining a sect of Warrior-judges called Talions. However when there is a plot against this king's life, Nolan is assigned to protect him.
And that is all I am going to say.
The first chapter tells us of Nolan, who is a justice. A person who will act as Judge, jury and as necessary executioner. Justices have to be skilled and knowledgeable in a variety of disciplines, Weapons skill of course. Nolan is now part...

Advantages: A Book that could change your life a little. Disadvantages: Just a touch too long.
...Betty Smith had the upper hand on other writers - she grew up in tremendous poverty and suceeded. She knew the struggle of the people of Brooklyn, and that is what lead her to write the classic "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn". Focusing on the main character growing up, Mary Francis Nolan, she captures the innocence of childhood with great humour, and the pain of growing up with little food. This book promotes self-awareness also, and I brought from it the feelings of appreciating life more, and also to appreciate what I have. The characters are so lovable; Katie, Johnny, Franci, Neely, and especially Aunt Sissy. I love this book for it's no nonsense approach, for it's truth and for it's lovely story....

Advantages: A trip down memory lane for those who also remember the Nolans Disadvantages: ended too soon
...Well I must say, after receiving this book as a birthday present I thought I might give it a try when there's nothing else to be done.
What a pleasant read I found it to be, very entertaining. The book depicts well the atmosphere and camraderie at Pontin's, and he certainly did live it up while working there (puts Alfie Moon in the shade!) Shane's personality and sense of humour definitely comes through I almost laughed out loud at times. Although there is always a sense of sadness running through the latter stages of the book as his marriage breaks down, and Shane knows he only has himself to blame he finds the guilt very hard to bear. I got the impression that Shane and Coleen Nolan were made for each other, but he blew it!!!!
Altogether an entertaining read and was sad to come to the end....
