Advantages robust, well made, useful in summer, encourages role-play
Disadvantages a little expensive, not an actual safety helmet
Peterkin's 'Boss' Construction helmet is an incredibly simple dress-up accessory with a simple, robust design and bright colours. The helmet is fairly small, and will fit on the heads of children aged 4-8 approx, and has a plastic padding-frame on the inside (just like a real, adult helmet) in order to make it more comfortable to wear. The helmet is made out of moulded plastic painted bright yellow, with a rasied ridge across the top and a peak at the front, which is handy as it will help to keep your child's face in the shade when the hat is being used on hot summer days. It also has a badge front-centre, with the word 'BOSS' written in bold capitals, and is a great little item for role-play and encouraging constructive play in general, for use in activities such as "helping" Dad, building with blocks, digging in the garden and so on.
There's really very little to criticise about the helmet as it is well-made, light, useful, and visually appealing, although it should be remembered that this is not an actualy safety helmet and purely intended for dress-up/role-play purposes. You can pick it up for around £5 or £6 online, which isnt bad, although you can pick this sort of thing up even cheaper at markets and discount toy shops. Still, worth it for the money.Summary: a good dress-up accessory, if a little pricey
