Peugeot are not known for their brilliant interiors, and as you would expect, this is not any different, the seating is pretty average until you go to use it. The way the seats are positioned is ridiculous, and getting the drivers seat in the correct position for you can be a chore at times, especially if you share the car like I do. Other than this it is pretty average inside for a car of its type, the back seats fold down quite well, ad you get the dashboard rattle which we have come to expect from some new cars with plastic orientated styles shall we say. The controls are also pretty easy to use, and it looks altogether tidy inside if nothing else.
*Performance* more
When I first thought about the idea of writing a review on the car I drive, it seemed a pretty daunting task, however when I think about it, I know its god and bad points so I thought I'd give it a bash. O.K here we go.
I may have only recently passed my test, and I know that this is actually my dad's car, but I feel that I have now driven it enough to be able to form an opinion on it. I will probably be looking at it from my point of view, so if you have one and think differently, just remember I'm 18 and this is just my opinion. By the way my one is a British racing green 'T' Registration one, and is pretty bog standard.
*Handling*
Having driven this car round a few tight corners and maybe a slightly higher speed than I should have been doing, I can say that she is a pretty nifty mover. The relatively small size means that you can get away with this good handling, without looking like a wimp in the process. That's one of the things I like about this car! It's manliness! I'd say overall the nimble handling makes it a very fun car to drive, even if it is a diesel! It still picks out the bumps at low speeds, although the suspension is generally good.
*Noise*
You might expect a loud engine from this car, but I wouldn't say it is at all, at cruising speeds you would hardly even notice that it's a diesel. There's some road noise let in at times from the road, but it's generally good. The gearbox is sometimes 'clunky' but you do get used to using it after a while. Another thing I'd say about the noise with this car is that when you let someone in through the drivers side into the back seat, you sometimes notice that the horn is inline with the headrest so frequently goes off when letting people in on your side, which can be annoying at times, especially at night or when trying to make a quiet exit!

The way the seats are positioned is ridiculous, and getting the drivers seat in the correct position for you can be a chore at times, especially if you share the car like I do. *Performance*
Now, you might think that as I'm young and have not long passed my driving test, that I would be a bit of a boy racer, but to be honest all of that just doesn't interest me, I've seen and heard about far too many other lady my age being wrapped round lampposts and I don't want to be another statistic to push insurance premiums up even higher than they already are for my particular group. What I have noticed however is that the acceleration on this car is pretty punchy all things considered, ok, it's a diesel so its still rubbish, but its getting there.
*Space*
For a car with so much style, this car doesn't do too badly on the storage side of things. Most of it is in the boot however, and there is not much extra to be seen anywhere, although as I said before, the seats split two ways in the back and fold down nicely, so the extra space is there for when you need it.
*Quality and reliability*
I'd say that for a budget car, this is quite good on the quality side of things, it has its problems as said before, but these really aren't too much of an issue on the grand scale of things. Although you wouldn't expect it from a car that isn't that old, we have had few problems with it, and nothing major so far in its life, and believe me my dad is a nutcase when he's driving to it's been taken to its limits. A word of warning, don't try and change the headlight bulbs before reading the manual, it's a much greater take than it may seem at first!
*Style*
What can I say? If I was marking this car purely for looks I would give it full marks every time! Considering that this is seen as a family orientated design, it looks pretty damn good in my opinion. Most of the people I know were pretty impressed by it if you like that kind of thing! Who knows, it may have even distracted them from the fact that it's a diesel! The smooth lines and great shape are what makes it the best looking family car out there by far! This car is a nice job overall, it has obviously been skimped in places, but you can't expect Ford quality in Peugeot, can you? The other good thing about it is that it can be a family car, or just something for a couple, or even someone who is single, which just shows its overall versatility and universal appeal.

...Introduction**
I bought the Peugeot 206 1.6D L in February '06 from a private dealer. It is an S registration, hence was built in 1998 (one of the first of the 206's) It, at the time had 56,000 miles on the clock. It was a category D car, that is it was declared a total loss in an accident. I bought it from friend of an uncle (who was a mechanic) and was told it was a front-ended shunt causing minimal damage to the chassis and was mostly cosmetic.
... ...**Interior**
Well as usual, Peugeot lets itself down on the quality of the interior. The dashboard is a cacophany of plastic and more plastic. It is a cheap material, put togerther cheaply. The "elephant skin" pattern only adds to the cheap feeling. The seats aren't the most supportive or comfortable. The front cabin is pretty spacious, shoulder and head room is no problem for a wide, tall (6'1") guy like me. The driving positing however, is simply ...

Quick review of Peugeot 206 1.9 D
Never able to get the magic 60mpg or anywhere near this. My best was 52 mpg ambling along at a steady 75mph. The car is a veritable plodder. Few cars have more uncomfortable seats which is rather unfortunate as the designers have incorportated an impressive range of driver seat positions. Despite this, over 100 miles I suffered acute lower back pain and arse toothache!
I expected more "puff" through the range but have the impression this engine has a hard time shoving the 206 along. I believe the 1.4 turbo is a different story?
It is roomy, feels bigger than I expected but largely disappointing. ...

Advantages: Superb drive, great looks, good residual value. Disadvantages: Everyone else in the midlands has got one!!
We have had several 206 models now and this is our second diesel.
The car is superb and a real joy to drive.
Although diesel no longer has a real advantage in economy we much prefer how the car drives.
If your looking for Air Con (and believe me its well worth it) the diesel power copes much better and it's hardly noticeable when it's on.
In contrast we had a 1.4 GLX which was ruff as old boots with the air con working. Still a very nice car ...

Advantages: superbly economical, good looking, reliable. Disadvantages: tiny footwell -husband has difficulties driving it.
If you drive a lot during the course of your working day, you'd have a long way to go to beat this little beauty. Its economical, does loads to the gallon, its classy, cute, and very comfortable with a very good, smart interior. The air conditioning makes the inside of the car comfortable when its hot as well as when its raining ( it stops the car steaming up inside ). There are handy holders for your drinks, the boot holds all your shopping as well ... ...pleasantly powerful considering its a diesel, and I use mine all day every day and it has never let me down. Its now three years old and I love it to bits. I would definitely have another - but I hope to keep this baby a while longer! Its a gorgeous sexy black colour. ...

Good Points
As a first car it has been brilliant. No problems what so ever, starts first time every time, brilliant mpg, brakes are nice and sharp, gear changes are smooth. Loves high speeds, great on the motorway.
Bad Points
A touch on the noisy side to say the least, Standard stereo system is awful, so I upgraded it, now I don't hear the noise from the engine. A bit sluggish unless you pull away at higher revs, seats aren't the comfiest, so ... ...better now. Had a slight leak with the washer fluid, had to replace the tank as it had cracked somehow, starter motor played up a couple of times but this was due to a corroded wire.
General Comments
Great car for driving round town, and on motorway, handles quite well, very efficient, Good looker. Make sure that the previous owner isn't a "larger" person, as springs in the seat tend to compress and stop the seat being comfy. Great reliable car ...
