I purchased a 306 XS 1600cc, this model is the sporty edition with semi bucket seats, high spec interior and sports exterior, and it cost 3k.
My car had 45k on the clock and had two owners, i had driven my mothers car the same model and was impressed by the acceleration of this car, especially in lower gears. The XS had more go in it than most 1.6's will have in a car this size and i estinate this 90bhp engine to reach 60mph in a little over 11 seconds. That is fairly good and from 0-40ish it goes as quick as most things on the road.
Just as all small french cars, 1st and 2nd gears have the most torque and this is what makes it fun to drive. Yes, i am a 21 year old who likes to have fun behind the wheel.
I have since bought some 16 inch wheels for the car and they set it of a treat.
I have had it services for a little over £100 pounds and had a cam belt change at 55k, done by mates garage for £80, do not go to Peugeot for this to be done, they charges you 4 hours labour and in total it comes to around £250 for a cam belt changes, choose your friendly local garage instead.
This car has an electric sun roof and electric windows and a good four speaker stereo with steering wheel remote.
The seats are the best feature of the interior as they really hold you in when cornering, and give a lot of support to your back.
The boot is very large and you can fit two decent size adults in the back and the engine still copes with the weight.
Overall for around 3k you can by a fun, reliable and stylish car, there a few XS's around if you look hard enough and the XS is certainly worth doing that!
