Ive had this car for 2 weeks now, and so far it's been great. It cost me £2700 from a small garage with full service history, only 51k miles on the clock, 3 months tax and 8 months MOT. Here's some basic info about my car...
--S Reg (registered 31/12/1998)-- --1.8i 16v petrol engine (112bhp)-- --Metallic Gold (aka Blaze Yellow) paint-- --3 Door Hatchback-- --Tape player, radio, and 6 cd changer-- --Electric windows, A/C, Remote Central locking + much more--
So far i havent experienced any problems with the car. Although the drivers electric window is slighty jerky.
I think the car is great for a number of reasons. It looks very sporty (looks more like the XSi's and GTi's, not the more basic models). It came with 14" alloy wheels, but i changed these for some 17" MVK 10 alloys (costing £575).
The car is in a very low insurance group (5 or 6) which is great, and its still very quick. The acceleration is pretty good, so is the top speed, and the handling is great.
The stereo is very good for a standard factory fitted one. The speakers go quite loud without distorting. There is a little stalk on the steering column (just under the wiper arm) which can be used to change tracks/change station which is very handy. Before i got the car i didn't like the idea of having a 6 CD changer in the boot of the car, as you couldnt change the cd while driving. But to be honest it hasn't really been a problem (since 6 CD's is enough really).
The interior is very nice (even though some people have reviewed it as being terrible and old fashioned). But i think it looks ok and is all laid out very well. Some 306's have very horrible patterns however, but mine is okay (black with orange-ish bits). The seats are very comfortable and sporty.
The only negative things i can think of are that it uses quite a lot of petrol (compared to my old car - Ford Escort 1.6i), but i suppose thats expected since it's much quicker. And also spare parts can be quite expensive for peugeot (my mum has a 406).
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Advantages: Sporty looks, better drive than other Escorts, very comfortable seats Disadvantages: Performance not especially sporty, handling and steering not great
