A pretty good runner (without trying to tempt fate!), though slow
Advantages: Cheap, not a bad looking car, fuel efficient Disadvantages: Low equipment models, slow
...pretty quick for work. Normally, Peugeot would have been the last manufacturer I would have turned to! I saw my 306 advertised locally for £800 with 6 months tax, and almost a full years MOT, so it seemed like quite a bargain. Having to look past my moderate dislike of Peugeots, and French cars in general, it actually wasn't a bad looking little car. The model I have is the 1.9 naturally aspirated diesel engine, and the XND trim level. The first ... ...corner, I've regularly seen my Peugeot go from a quarter of a tank of diesel, right down to the bottom, even to the point where the fuel light comes on. Whether this is a design flaw, or perhaps simply a faulty gauge on my car, I couldn't say. The seats are comfortable, and fine for long journeys. For quite a small car there is quite good leg room in the back also. In terms of driving, I have to say that this car is one of the nicest drives. I've ...

306 HDi - The Lion goes from strength to strength
Advantages: Good economy and performance Disadvantages: A bit basic and lacking in features
I have owned and driven a 306 HDI Estate for 4 years now and I have never been anything other than impressed. The car itself still looks good despite being 10 years old and it drives and handles well. The estate is so useful for carrying all osrts of things around including sports gear and beekeeping equipment. Interior wise the car is nothing special but at the smae point everything is still working so I have no complaints. The HDI engine is immense, ... ...me a consistent 55 miles to the gallon. Last year I looked at trading it in for a 307 estate but decided not to, the clean lines and sleek styling of the 306 simply are not there in the 307. This car has cost us very little over the years beyond the normal tyres, suspension and servicing. If youy can find a good one I really recommend it. Mine now has 170000 miles on the clock and is still going strong. ...

Cute little thing
Advantages: Cheap, Economy, Reliable (ish), Pinninfarina Design, Space, Disadvantages: Expensive to repair, Awful window winding up mechanism, Low quality engine seal
...in red and comes with Peugeot alloy wheels. The standard car is a beauty and this no coincidence as it was designed by Italian car design house Pininfarina, yup you guessed it the people that design Ferraris. The car lines are sharp and sexy and it looks good still even though it was launched more than a decade ago.
The car is amazingly roomy inside and in common with most French cars is a very comfortable car. The interiors are of a good quality ... ...every 6 months though a Peugeot engines tend to misfire if not done.
Never ever underestimate the coolant level as it can turn into a heat casket nightmare. This won't be cheap to repair even though it costs £30 for the part is £200 for labour as it is a pain to get to it, courtesy of good but awkward mechanics that French and Japanese cars enjoy. Not much room for DIY either.
The windscreen wash tank tend to clog up a bit so should be thoroughly ...

Peugeot 306GTI-6 Review
Advantages: Fast Hot Hatch With Good Handling and Six Gears Disadvantages: Heavy Clutch and poor turning circle
I have owned a pug 306 Gti-6 for 2 years, and think that it is a great car as long as you look after it. It has a very powerful 2.0 16v engine producing 167bhp.
since buying it i have had to change the clutch at which can be expected at 100,000 miles i done this myself but would not do it again on one of these cars as it is an extremely awkward job. It is a quite laborious car to drive in traffic this is because it has a very heavy clutch due to ... ...circle, which can be embarrassing at times. On the other hand recently down the quite Welsh B roads i remembered why i brought one it is a great car to drive with fantastic handling due to its passive rear wheel steering at times like these you forget the disadvantages of the car. The fuel economy is quite good for a 2.0 on a long motorway run i have got 420 miles out of a 60L tank unfortunately round town this can be as low as 330miles. ...

Automatic 1.6!
Advantages: Looks good, very comfortable, handles well. Disadvantages: 1.6 petrol is not as good as the diesel models
This is the car that me and my wife bought for her to drive as I had already own a 306 1.9td and loved the car. She fell in love with the car on first sight, it a great blue colour and looks fantastic. Inside its so comfotable and there is plenty of room in the back for most people, I am 6 foot and find it ok to sit in the back even on a long trip. There is plenty of boot space too.
As for the reliablity it is pretty good, we have had the car for ... ...fault with the automatic gear box and the power steering not working. The running costs are reasonable but if you are thinking of getting a 306 I would go for a diesel model instead of a petrol one as the diesel engines are so good.
I would love to buy another 306 for myself in the future but would go for the 2.0 HDI which I have heard great things about. ...
