The Peugeot 306 is the predecessor to the new 307.
I currently own a Peugeot 306 1.9Turbo Diesel. I have had this car for the past 4 years and have had no problems with it during that time.
When anyone mentions the word diesel, the first things that come to mind are noisey, smelly cars that are really sluggish. I would usually agree, but this car is the exception.
When you first sit in this car you would be suprised that a hatchback can be so spacious, but it is. Another suprise will be when you start the engine and hear it purr.....although it isn't as quiet as a petrol it has been padded enough under the bonnet to reduce the engine noise a great deal.
Now take it for a drive, the seating and view through all the mirrors is perfect, and you pass through the gears with ease. It's not until you hit the motorway that realise the full power behind this monster. As you increase speed the powerful engine pulls you along, 50, 60, 65 mph. You hit the 3,000 rev mark, and you get a sudden push back into your seat as the turbo begins to to take hold. This is an amazing feeling as the raw power of the engine allows you to sail up hills as if they weren't there.
Thats not the only time you'll make use of the turbo, if you are at a stand still and need to move off quickly just flick through those gears and you'll be gone leaving others eating your dust.
It's a shame that these cars are no longer in production, I'll be looking for another when my eventually goes to car heaven

I agree with other comment that the pic used here does not do the car justice! To get higher marks for feedback you need to include specific features of the 306 model and give readers a real feel for what they're getting for their money.

Pity Ciao used the saloon for pic - hatch much more syylish. had the HDI estate for a couple of years - problems with the front suspension otherwise excellent car
Advantages: Great little car, economic and reliable, the turbo is excellent and great fun.. Disadvantages: Not the fastest of the lights! and a can be a bit smokey starting it first time in the morning.
