I bought an 03 Peugeot 307 S in Aegean Blue for £13,600 brand new, it had the 2.0 HDi 90 engine.
What went wrong: On the first day my indicator stalk wouldn't reset to its normal position. I phoned the next day to book it in and then when I went up there on the Wednesday they hadn't even ordered the part, it was sorted the next week.
Then after only five days the alternator had to be replaced, which was done overnight, so luckily was only without the car for a day.
This car has adequate performance and is very comfortable to drive. Being a diesel it has its sluggish moments but then the turbo kicks in at about 1500rpm and it has a nice pull off. Compared to my last car (a 1.2 Corsa) it is quick but not as quick off the mark, this is probably oweing to its much more noticable weight making the car feel heavy to drive. But overall when the car is on the move it is comfortable to drive and a pleasure to be in. It is no real town car admittedly, and driving around in 4th gear becomes the norm, but being a diesel the economy comeback is good. The motorway run is exceptional, it feels strong, gutsy and even with a car full it barely notices, not to mention the economy comeback its amazing even at high speeds. Having driven a 110 version I will have to say that in the higher revs there is not much between them, but the 110 is noticebly quicker off the mark.
Inside its very spacious and of high quality, to be honest a sheer luxuary, its so comfortable. Standard equipment includes: 6 air bags, front and rear 12v aux socket, air conditioning with air recirculation and air conditioned glove compartment. digital oil level indicator,cd player and radio with steering wheel mounted controls, isofix rear child seat brackets, massive boot with net, drivers height adjustment on seat as well as reach and rake adjustment on steering wheel. There is loads of storage space and even a bin.
Outside the body is finished in all one colour and with some 15" alloy wheels. There is loads of storage space and even a bin.
Criticisms: The only real thing I will have to have a moan about is the little interior tid bits, although it looks and feels of excellent quality, there seems to be a lot of squeaking and mild rattles from various places in the front of the cabin, mianly like buttons and from the passenger sun visor. The only other gripe was that the fabric panel behind the drivers seat has come out, it was repaired but botched and came out again. Also the A-pillars are long and can sometimes severely restrict your view, although it is a good panoramic view out of the windscreen.
Overall its a pleasurable car, a dream to drive certainly gives the Focus a run for its money, I know I have one now and thats only due to me having the 307 stolen off me (mugged)otherwise I would have been very happy to keep hold of it.
