We've all heard Peugeot's (and French cars in general) score badly on consumer satisfaction tests (e.g. Top Gear's!) But heres a bit on my personal experience.

I bought a 307 3 years ago. 2 years ago i had a micro-sleep on a Sunday mid-morning and drove it into a tree at around ... ...degrees and threw it back into the road blocking both lanes. I was really lucky to come away with just a lot of bad bruising external and internal and a slight burn to my forehead from the airbag. The worst that happened was i lost my thumbnail!. But i honestly feel that the cars safety features played a massive part in my safety. I know of cars which would have done very little to help my survival!!

I bought a 307 3 years ago. 2 years ago i had a micro-sleep on a Sunday mid-morning and drove it into a tree at around 55mph. without breaking. Not pleasant. It spun the car 270 degrees and threw it back into the road blocking both lanes.
The Car was naturally a write-off (£8,000 write-off). The bonnet and front of the car crumpled to next to nothing (but this is a GOOD thing as it soaks up the impact presure) the air bags did their job as did the seat belt. I was under no doubt that i wanted to replace it with another 307, for safety alone i was in debt to Peugeot!
So i have an '04' plate Pauegeot now. For my next car i will get something else, but only because i like a change. I would recommend this car!
So some other none crash related points...
Looks: Inside and out i think the 307 is a great car to look at, from the outside it looks clean and smooth. If it was a little lower it would look like a hot hatch. Inside the dash is the best in its price range. Modern and clean lines.
Features: full electrics, including mirrors and air con is great. CD player included in mine.
Handling: Average, sluggish to accelerate and is the primary reason i personally wont have one again (i still would recommend the car but if you want a quick car, this isnt it!)
At the end of the day, i think the value is great, when i was looking for a car i didnt want a fast car, consuming loads of fuel. I wanted a car that looks great inside and is comfy and spacious. Thats the 307.
Advantages: Comfortable Compact Disadvantages: Lacks oomph when trying to take off!
I bought my Peugeot 307 in August 2006. It is a lovely "little" car, but when I buy my next one I will look for more power.
The 307 has a great, modern shape. It looks sleek in comparison with other compact models and the range of colours is great.
I love my pug, but, unless you want to pay for extras the basic interior leaves a bit to be desired as the plain upholstery is boring and the plastic dash and console look dated and a little on the cheap ... ...I can always spot another Peugeot coming towards me now! One problem I have discovered is the placing of the handle on the hatchback. I have scratched the paint work a few times when opening it so not sure if something could be done in a future design.
The design of the under bonnet area is very good - everything is set out very neatly and everything is very recognisable (being a woman who on a previous car put water where the oil should go this ...

...quiet and if my other peugeot was anything to go by it should be very reliable. But this cars strong points aren't the engine. i purchased the 307 ENVY for £10995, with 0% finance as an option which is very helpful if you don't have the spare cash but you do have to put down a 35% deposit. The standard features of this car are as follows; powered steering, electric windows, electric mirrors, remote central locking, air conditioning, ABS, EBA, EBFD, ... ...6 airbags, height adjustable seat and tiltable steering column. Inside the car feels very spacious in the front but there is little legroom in the back. There isn't the cheap tacky feel you get in rival korean cars, the finish is in my opinion to a high standard. The driving position is superb thanks to the height adjustable seat and tilting steering column. The exterior is very nice, its a curvy car giving it a sporty feel and if you have a few ...
