ABS Recall 11 of 11 Ciao Users found the following review helpful
Rating from Wigan-Trucker 5 Stars ()

Advantages Loads of room for the family and can be used as a van

Disadvantages There are non

I had 2003 307SW until recently, the car was brilliant to drive, 7 seats, Panoramic roof, 5 Disc CD Changer, Aircon, Tinted windows, Central locking all round, All electric windows, Alloys, ABS Oh yes! ABS, that`s the reason why we got rid of the damned thing. The car worked perfectly UNTIL it had a recall. Bolton dealer had it for a day, said they did nothing to it as it didn`t have water ingress, Apparently, year 52-53 models catch fire due to a plug connector corroding which is connected to the ABS. The loom that they fitted to our car can be seen by removing the fusebox cover where you may see about 4 wires connected up in this fuse box, this is the modification. Only 9 in the whole of Europe have actually caught fire. On the motorway later that week, STOP ABS FAILURE came on the radio display. I pulled over to the hard shoulder, turned off the ignition and when I turned the key back on again, the message had been erased to my delight. I started to get back up to 50mph to rejoin the main carriageway when it came on again, The next day I took it back, they said that it was going to cost ME £350 to clean rear brakes, if fault still present, I could double that to £800 for new sensors. They said that they HAD replaced a part after all, they fitted a wiring loom which made the rear sensors more sensative. When I went onto a Peugeot 307 forum, there were so many horror stories of people with the same problem and they`d had the cleaning and sensor replacement done, only to find that the fault still existed. I decided to contact Peugeot directly and they said that there was nothing that they could do because the dealer had done the recall correctly. I didn`t have it fixed, I knew that it would fail the MOT which was due within three weeks, I sold it for £1500 because I needed a very quick sale. Try putting "Peugeot 307" into a search engine & look for the Pegueot 307 forum. 250,000 european 307`s are being recalled. If you have one of these cars and you have no problems at the moment, I would stongly advise you to ignore the recall notice as you WILL get it back with ABS problems or even something more sinister, My wife got to the stage where she started to refuse to drive the car in fear of the barkes not working. I explained to her that the brakes were OK, it`s the ABS which doesn`t work which basically means that the cars braking system is similar to a 1980`s model where they didn`t have ABS fitted, but the brakes would work perfectly.
