My first 307 had a 1997cc engine and I was only allowed to have this one which is the new engine 1560cc/4 cylinder. This worried me as I thought it would be underpowered so I checked it out with several garages who all said this new engine was even better and when I drove it I thought it was a lot better too. I have found it to be very fast and economical. I do a high mileage with a lot of motorway driving. It's a very easy and responsive car to drive and it holds the road well. I found it went surprisingly well in the snow too!
The book says the top speed is 111 - that must have been in a very ideal situation but it does 90 naturally and would do more. It says the acceleration is 0-60 in 12.1 and 57 mpg - I have found it is extremely economical to drive - more than the old model. It is insurance group 5.
Mine is iron grey in colour which I really like. I find the seats are a bit hard, particularly the neck rests - but that is a personal preference. It looks slightly different in appearance from the first model and I think it is an improvement. The air conditioning works really well.
As to problems - it has had about 3 recalls and it did have some sort of oil leak which was dripping on to the manifold so it was off the road for about 3 days until they got the part but then they always gve me a car when its in for service.
It's had a couple of niggling things - then centre bit on the gear knob keeps coming out on your hand - the bit with the gear change diagram, that is and the steering wheel cover is beginning to shred.
The biggest improvement is that they now seem to have got the electrical issues sorted out with the indicators and lights. I've certainly had no problems.
When I had it first the windscreen wipers were really noisy and the scraping drove me crazy. I kept taking it to Peugeot dealers but theywouldn't do anything about it and said it was meant to be like that. One even said it was good as it meant it was efficient and I would get used to it!! Eventually I emailed Peugeot and they made the garage replace them. Peugeot dealers don't seem to like dealing with these contract hire cars; neither do tyre services.

We foster 3 youngsters, have a grandson and stepgrandson, we decided we needed an occasional 7 seater, eventually settling on the 307.
Used as a 5-seat estate, it's pretty roomy. Bit cramped with 7. The rear 2 seats are ok for little people, or for a lift to the pub, but I wouldn't want to drive down to the south of France, or even the south coast, in the third row. It's versatile with the seating, the rear 5 can be configured many ways. Stowage is limited, there are drawers under the (fully adjustable) driver and front passenger seats, "map" pockets on the backs of the seats, and reasonable door pockets. There's nowhere to stow your road map properly though. The "glovebox" is a bit small, but it's air conditioned (for keeping drinks cool apparently).
I was surprised how quiet it is, and taken aback by the performance of a 1.6 ...
Advantages: Looks good, great interior, well equipped, good mpg Disadvantages: cold chrome gearstick
I purchased this car 2 months ago having traded in my 2003 SEAT Ibiza TDi Sport which was giving me trouble. Because I had been used to the 130bhp and almost 50mpg the Ibiza gave me I wanted something different, but still with these attributes.
So, I opted for the 1.6HDi version of the 307. This gives 110bhp, and although its 20 bhp less than the Ibiza the power delivery is much smooth and more progressive. The 307HDI is a full blown turbo, so it doesn't suffer nearly as badly from "turbo lag", meaning it pulls well in all gears from as low down as 1000-1200 rpm. It is also incredible quiet when stood as it ticks over at less than 800 rpm (meaning you don't sound quite so much like a tractor as other diesels)
The 307 is a mid-sized family car and will easily seat 5 people (even the 3-door version I have - its very easy to get in ...

Ciao members have rated this car review on average: very helpful Review of Peugeot 307 1.6 16v
I bought my Peugeot307 just over a year ago, brand new. I paid approximately £15000 for it, but I got it on three years interest free credit, the disadvantage to this was 35% deposit but luckily my old car plus £200 covered this.
The colour of the car is called Idaho Green (Peugeot colour) which is actually a very pleasant light green colour. The interior is co-ordinated with a darker green velour and dark green dashboard and door trims, which makes for very pleasant and calm surroundings when driving the car. It has alloy wheels and air conditioning and central locking. There is also a feature which can be turned on to automatically lock the car when you drive away, so no-one can open the doors from the outside, however this can be a bit annoying when you are picking up passengers, if you are like me and forget it is on they can ...
