Advantages: Space, reliability, performance (for a van, that is) Disadvantages: Little more than a van conversion.

I spent 20 years working in the motor trade with a decent company car, so, on semi-retirement, it came as a new experience to actually own my own. My wife and I had bought a small gift shop and reckoned we needed an estate car for humping stock etc. We went to our local Peugeot dealer one Sunday morning to look at the 307, saw the Partner and bought it there and then. We haven't regretted that impulse decision for one moment. The only thing we added to the standard car was metallic paint and air conditioning.
True, it's not the perfect vehicle, particularly for rear seat passengers who find the seats particularly uncomfortable. However, we hardly ever use the rear seats so this isn't a issue of consequence. The front seats, both driver and passenger, are remarkably comfortable and make long journeys less tiring than being in many executive sallons that I've driven. Last year I drove 450 miles to Limoges with just one stop for fuel and didn't even suffer a numb bum.
Economy wise, the 2.0HDi engine really is superb. Driving reasonably quickly but on mostly short journeys, the car returns around 45 mpg. Considering the Partner has the aerodynamic properties of a house brick, I reckon that's pretty good. It uses around a litre of oil every 6000 miles, but I can live with that. Servicing is reasonable at between £100 and £200 depending on the schedule required. I've done 42,000 miles in just under 2 years without any other expense except a pair of front tyres at 36,000 miles. Brakes still have plenty of life in them.
Where the Partner really excels is in its load carrying capabilities. It's like a Tardis with the seats folded down. The load volume is absolutely huge, plus there's inumerable nooks and crannies hidden away for minor storage. I've had well over half a ton in the back with no noticeable drop in performance.
Other than a ather heavy clutch, it really is quite pleasant to drive. The controls come easily to hand and the power steering is effortless without being over light. Noise levels are a bit on the high side, especially when one compares the same engine in the 307. However, engine noise isn't intrusive, rather just a bit higher than a more conventional vehicle.
Performance from the 2.0HDi unit is excellent. Acceleration is brisk, but not exciting. The car will cruise happily for mile after mile at 90 mph.
Overall, with 2 years under its belt, the Partner has proved an excellent buy for my circumstances. It's not for everyone, but certainly worth considering if you need lots of space, rasonable comfort and an economical runabout.
The Citroen Belingo is the same vehicle and a little bit cheaper, but the Peugeot is better equiped as standard. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, but with no signs of wear and tear, I think it'll be a while away.
Advantages: Loads of space, reliable, great economy Disadvantages: not best looking car, only manual gearbox.
...She turned up in a Peugeot Partner, the van version of this the Partner Combi. Of course, her van was full of things like aluminium powder, ink, brushes and other scene-of-crime stuff. My Combi has windows and foldable rear seats. But there's still plenty of room to put things: two in-floor stowage bins, generous door pockets, another bin under the glove compartment and a big, deep, square boot with a plastic-covered floor. If, while in a Peugeot ... ...getting them in the back would be simple. For the Partner is fitted with handy sliding rear doors. And as headroom is very generous, one wouldn't have to put one's hand on the suspects' heads as, handcuffed, they climb in like the police have to with the saloon cars. Despite the quite decent ride quality, you can never really shake the feeling that you're in a cheered-up van. The cheap stereo, the boominess of the cubic cabin and the lack of dual ...

...reviewer I walked into the Peugeot dealer to look at a new 206 and came out with the Partner Escapade... I bought it there and then. I liked the rear sliding doors and the space plus the fact that it was going to be a cheaper deal than the 206!! I've taken it down to the South of France 3 or 4 times over the last 5 years and have been able to pack everything but the kitchen sink into it with the rear seats folded down. The drive has been comfortable ...
